So that’s how people in ny and dc survive
I’m at the point where I cannot do anything without...
The fact that the question asks if it’s to maintain a competitive edge or because you like it only, and doesn’t cover whether it’s used for its intended purpose - ie medication for ADHD - is very interesting.
People like op are part of why it's so difficult for those of us who actually have ADHD to get diagnosed and on any kind of medication. It's a gross attitude even before getting to the fact that this is a highly addicted profession and it all starts somewhere...
I use it both because I have ADD and in order to handle the long hours/high volume of work. I wouldn’t say I take it because I like it, but it is essential to stay productive.
Same. The only problem I have is when work hours are over. It’s also hard to connect with people at work because I’m so zoned in... does anyone know what I mean?
You should prob not take drugs for your job. Can’t be healthy.
Be very careful with this. It is an amphetamine and has a high risk of abuse. They should only be used by a very small portion of the population, and under the supervision of a reputable psych who is also helping you manage ADHD in other ways (therapy for coping skills, exercise, etc.). There have been studies showing that people taking adderall or other amphetamines FEEL more alert, but do not actually perform better cognitively.
I had a friend with ADHD who took Adderall as prescribed by her doctor. A couple months in, she had something called “adderall-induced psychosis”. She was not sleeping and hospitalized after she began talking complete nonsense and having delusions that she was somehow connected to the moon and could control things in sync with the lunar cycles (??). She had to stay in the hospital and get pumped full of drugs for a few days. Her doctor put her on another kind of med (I think vyvanse) after that.
Not saying ADHD isn’t real, but there are serious risks and you should not be taking controlled substances to perform at work. This is very dangerous.
No it is definitely real- I taught children in the past and you can see the difference especially in handwriting when they are off versus on meds. But amphetamines are serious controlled substances and have a high risk of abuse- no one should take them unless they are medically necessary
I use Bifentin because it’s mild and drink coffee if I’m feeling foggy. Other than that, I really try to stay away from the hard stuff. It’s never been the help to my ADHD that people say it is for them. Use a planner, learn to stay on task, that’s better and more effective.
👀 details please. Are these taken for energy?
I use it because I have ADD
