What’s going on at Ruder Finn these days?
it depends. cost of living is MUCH lower over there, even tho London is technically an expensive city.
I'd estimate you'd be at around 75k or 80k usd or so, NYC equivalent. I have a bunch of London contacts (born and bred there, us based now) and happy to connect you with some folks if you'd like to ask anyone questions directly.
What a helpful, friendly response for Fishbowl 🙌
Yes definitely! 🙋♀️ Londoner who used to make around that here. (Now live in NYC). Don’t see it as a pay cut or compare to USD - it’s so different. Groceries, and essentials are considerably cheaper. Eating and drinking are about the same. Rent is a lot cheaper in London. Internet, mobile contracts and cable tv are sooooo cheap - £50-60. Gym is cheaper. You do have more bills and utilities related to renting like council tax, water, electric/gas, etc, which overall can be more expensive that my experience in the US but with rent being cheaper, it’s not usually a huge difference overall. On £43k, you’re probably taking home around £2700 a month-ish. Not sure of your level/role, but £43k sounds like manager/senior manager level. Try and push them up to £48k but regardless I think you’ll be fine! You will love London! On renting - you could find somewhere to live on your own on that but would recommend roommate - sharearoom.co.uk is the main one people use. And openrent is great for apartment hunting. You don’t get crazy fees for brokers and such, there. Good luck! Happy to help more if you have questions. I only left about 6 months ago!
