Arroz con Pollo

Hi all, I am very interested in applying for KPMG’s Technology Strategy and Transformation consultant (recent graduate) role and I was wondering if anyone could share their experiences on working in this department at KPMG (especially in Canada since that is where is located in) and/or ask for a referral if possible. Thank you in advance!

PSA 4 anyone looking at media agencies-stay far away from PHD (and Omnicom Media Group in general). As far as I can tell they are 1 of the only companies going from “we encourage you to come in 1x a week” to suddenly “its now mandated that everyone come in 3x week” - Senior leadership has done nothing to address many employees concerns of public safety, Covid, & mental health. Sounds like it’s “we’re paying rent here so let’s make sure we’re using it”. On top of that layoffs seem to be looming

Exactly!
Totally agree. I hope companies realize this soon. But I also think we have a role to get there, is not just about hoping. Things won't change without workforce action. We should stand up against the old working culture that is pervasive in very and each world location. Great resignation is good to be happened and I hope other massive mindset changes will happen in the future!
Hahahaha lets go mate. Lets make the revolution 🏡🎉
Not being able to see my children grow because of having to commute into work has depressed me
It’s time you’re not being paid for. So unless you have a way to make it enjoyable or productive in some other way, you need to factor that into what you are being paid for. If it’s 2 hours a day then that’s 10 hour work day for your paycheck.
I know some people who commute by car find creative ways to make commute time work time by scheduling calls, mostly internal of course, during the morning or afternoon drive time. Team meetings / updates, manager calls, follow ups with team members or clients, mandatory training, etc are all useful to do. If you can swing getting 50% of your commute time or more into work calls then it would help.
Doesn’t make it perfect either as you are spending the energy and money on that big commute and it’s prob a big less safe. But we all need to find a compromise somewhere.
I have it written down for my next job interview:
“I promised myself that I would ask for a four-day work week in the next role I took.”
AGREE!!
Agree to agree!
This is sort of how I arrange my own schedule. I try to keep my workday to a max of 6 hours, while also making Thursday and Friday my lightest days. So, I guess it's sort of a hybrid approach.
It all comes down to the boundaries you set, communicate and stick to. Lots of people manage in lots of companies / agencies different work schedules. It does get trickier trying to ask/change something that’s been some way for a long time, but these days agencies would rather keep good people and be more flexible.
I’m freelancing at a company that has made “summer hours” - only working till noon at Fridays a permanent arrangement. I’m definitely enjoying what feels like a longer weekend every week.
I agree with this. I would be WAY more productive in that amount of hours. I wiould love that schedule.
Nah. An entire day of just doing whatever beats it all. Hybrid office models also allow you to go home earlier or go to the office later, which doesn’t mean less hours of work, but it does mean being around for your family. Give me that extra day to recharge!
