People in my building, including my neighbor have Covid-19. I want to go be with my family but they are in a different state. What should I do? Stay in my apartment or go home?

Stay in your apartment

Unfortunately it’s too risky at this point, especially given the shared spaces and potential for circulated air. Please don’t go.

I left to my parents after being alone for 3 weeks. I live alone in a small apartment in Houston. My anxiety was getting out of hand and I couldn’t stand the idea of staying by myself any longer or the possibility of my parents getting sick and not being there for them. My parents live 6 hours away. I drove to their place. I isolated for 2 weeks now and I’m so happy I came home. We are spending quality time together and I do the grocery runs so they aren’t leaving the house at all. I say, If you can make the drive just be responsible and go for it. There are people being irresponsible going to the beach or having get togethers at their house. At least you’re going home and you’ll continue to be responsible once you’re there. Don’t feel guilty for wanting to be with your family during these times.

You could be COVID-19 positive and asymptomatic. You should stay where you are.

Is it possible for you to quarantine when you get home to potentially avoid exposing family?

As someone from a poor family, currently living in a studio apartment I loled at “if your family has a guest house.” Not hating, just crazy to me that I had such a different upbringing than others I work with.

like

Stay in your apartment. It would be irresponsible to track those germs across states. We all want to see our families, and it sucks. But this is the sacrifice we are all making, which is worth it!

like

you are asking a question you already know the answer to. stay home.

like

Stay put for now

Can you drive & self-quarantine when you get there? I flew home from DC on March 19 and agonized about whether I was doing something irresponsible beforehand, so understand where you are coming from. But it sounds like there's a non-negligible chance you are asymptomatic at this point given building situation, so think you have to think about every person you'll possibly interact with in order to get home & once you get there.

like

OP if you go home can you self isolate for two weeks before going to your family home? If so, go for it

like

Really risky to go home

like

How would you get there? When I heard of the 3rd case in my building I drove back to my parents’ house but I have my own car.

like

Please stay home.

I have an employee who is very sick with COVID (on life support in the ICU). I would like to do something to support his wife; they have 2 young kids & she’s expecting; I’m sure the stress on her is exhausting. Any suggestions for what would be helpful and appreciated? This is more complicated because they were out of town & he was hospitalized out of state, so it is hard for us to get anything to them in person. Also, I’m concerned about his team members and would love ideas to support them

Hear me out. We’re living in the residual days of advertising power. Back in the day, if you worked in advertising, you very much shaped culture. Advertising creatives shared the airwaves with only the likes of Hollywood and national news. There were only so many pipes into culture and advertising was a big one. But today, the pipes are democratized. Random teens on TikTok are having more impact on culture than Mad Ave. And yet, so much ego and self importance remains.

I’m buying a house with my SO and MOST of the down payment is coming from me. Both our names will be on the deed / title. We are getting married very soon! However, because I’ve been very busy at work, I wired her the money to go get a cashiers check with our down payment and closing costs for our closing. I noticed that the “Remitter” on the cashiers check she got only has her name on it. Is this a problem? Should I have the cashiers check changed to have both our names on it for legal reasons?
