Any company that is 100% in-office after this pandemic is the king of sucks balls mountain

likefunnysmart

I probably won’t get any service on such balls mountain, either

likefunny

Not great. They’re using the excuse, as he mentioned in his video, that younger workers need to be in the office to further their careers by being “seen” but there have been promotion freezes for years so I’m skeptical he really cares about all those people Paris has passed over for promotions for 2-3 years, most of who have been associate or senior associate level. It comes off as using them as an excuse to force people back to the office.

likesmart

It looks like they’ll use covid to keep the “salary/promotion freeze” going for years to come.

uplifting

This is so messed up. Completely outdated thinking that you need to be “seen” to do well and get ahead. And using a statistic about how many of your employees are SINGLE as bait for why you need to bring your offices back during a pandemic? Who green lit this script?

likesmart

Yup. Total bullshit. Talking about the poor singles who desperately need to be back in the office to talk to people. Give me a break. 🙄

The Publicis Group has been lost for years and I don't think they are going to get back on track soon. It's the worst big network by far.

like

On point. Only reaffirmed that I made the right decision to leave the network a few years ago.

The vibe is decidedly not good. Of the thousands of questions submitted for town halls, 90% are “if you’re a people based company, why are you not listening to the people? We want at least partial flexible working.”

like

Publicis is a very French company and doesn't even really attempt to understand the US market and the talent pool. Saying that as a former member of the Groupe.

5 weeks pto Salaries are 25% lower than in the USA And we got free baguettes FFS: please get accurate info

It made my heart sink. I want to stay but remote work has become an official non-negotiable for me. Really curious how other Publicis people feel about this too.

I can’t see how work flex policy is not a top recruiting benefit in this climate. Would be my #1 question if interviewing. Says a lot about what or who a company values.

like

This is not forward thinking at all. So many companies see the value of WFH- especially when the work is still getting done and clients are happy. I’ve worked more in the past few months and felt more connected with clients than years. Not sure when this vaccine will come out and available in mass doses- but in-office should be optional/ hybrid or strictly for in person client meetings.

like

I completely agree with you. I’ve been on teams calls with clients who are working from their bedrooms or interrupted with bad WiFi, and it’s been very relatable for everybody. There is a level of understanding and flexibility that was not there before as we problem solve for clients and deliver better reports. I will miss this a lot and hope that it doesn’t go away

like

Since the vast majority can work from home easily, there should be no return office for large numbers of staff until there is a vaccine and verification that each staff member in the office has received it. Only then will the health and safety of employees be respected.

like

That’s not what he’s saying? The “internal vibe” is that the Groupe is doing a pretty good job taking care of its people during the pandemic.

like

Even with the vaccine it’s not going to be 100% compliance OR 100% efficacy. We still may need to even wear masks for a while. This is a completely tone deaf statement that is not actually putting the health of their employees first.

like

I think it’s a French thing. Sounds like a video our HQ would send out. 🤔 At least NY agencies get the vibe in the U.S. I don’t think Europe really understands how bad it is here. And he’s flying all over the world for forced in person meetings? Hope he’s not super spreading.

like

I dunno, I think this is a pretty reasonable video and stance. People can WFH til a vaccine. Once there's a widely-available vaccine, back to the office, but with understanding that more flexibility (via remote work or marcel) will be built in. Seems pretty balanced to me.

like

I’m the latter vibes for sure. Feels like most of the commentators in this thread as well.

Arthur has been a disaster since he took over Publicis Groupe. I hope they go another direction and get a new CEO.

like

Other holding companies take note: do the exact opposite of this. It’ll be your single greatest recruitment tool for post-pandemic talent that, like you, has learned to adapt and embrace the paradigm shift that’s happened here. Sorry Arthur, but no amount of superficial rationale can unring this bell, nor can your “viola” pixie dust turn back that clock. Can’t he just plug in some “be seen” software updates to Marcel? Again, holding companies, do the opposite of this and you’ll have your pick of the litter in terms of Publicis talent happily jumping 🚢 for contemporary companies and adaptive agencies able to evaluate talent beyond looking at people. And Viola!

like

I couldn’t get past the “Matin Sorrell” typo. I’m sorry. A) Who gives a shit about fucking Publicis? This holding company is perhaps the most dusty and irrelevant of them all. B) I just can’t believe that articles are written and not a single soul is around to edit them. C) Publicis is the KING of making bold, empty, fluff statements about how modern and forward thinking they are and then reverting to nonsense drivel in the next breath. I’m surprised they haven’t hired some very mediocre white man to head “a newly created synergistic dynamic digital product solution envoy liaison to bring innovative initiatives to remote work environments that change the way business is done in 2021” and call him: SVP, ECD, Remote Working Evangelist Solution Engineer.

like

If any group is going to adapt to current climates its 30 and under, single people. I'm just so insulted that they're really trying to sell this nonsense to people who WORK IN ADVERTISING. I also noticed how their stats conveniently don't have a poll that actually just asks the people they say they're woried the most about..

lmaooooo someone make him retire!!!

funny

Even if marcel was “productivity software”, why would it be more beneficial to a WFH company than a 100% in office company?

Eh I guess we’re thinking about it differently. I want to get back to the office and normalcy. My agency can reap the benefits of marcel regardless. Promoting marcel and getting back to the office aren’t contradictory to me.

like

It'll make them less competitive for talent and sort itself out. Basically if y'all quit real quick and it tanks accounts with clients leaving it'll change real quick, if y'all roll over it won't change at all, or something in the middle.
