Unless your daily duties vary by more than 50% as a result of promotion, you don’t need visa amendment.
I think M1 meant, if your duties change officially. USCIS doesn’t know that you’re working at the next level. Your H1B job description must match what you’re doing ( on paper) . It may lead to specialty occupation mess around RFEs these days.
Your legal department should be the one who can give you exact answer. It’s their responsibility .

Op- When I was promoted I was performing at next level too, and that’s expected. That’s not the deciding factor. but fortunately my previous role and current role have similar duties “officially”. That’s why my law team confirmed they did not have to file h1 amendment. Drop a note to them and get it clarify.
