Consulting is for the young.
DD2 are you saying you don't give a f about having free time? Sounds like a sad life.
No because your 20s setup your 30s which setup your 40a, etc. Its a short term loss for a long term win
Dude I barely do anything lol depends on your project
You’re not alone OP. Sometimes I have regrets because I feel some people in industry have had more rewarding careers, better teams, and work/life/emotional balance while I’ve spent my 20s trying to learn, get promoted, and prove my worth but working with people oblivious to my contributions as a team member.
I referred all my close friends working in industry to accenture. Now we 4. Gang gang
Just make sure you're actually learning and developing skills. Otherwise you'll be trapped in consulting forever.
I regret not starting earlier! I’m 30 now and still working my way to SC... I feel like by now I should be reaching a more stable point in my career but still have to work my way there.
I've worked in industry and yeah I was out around 5 pm but I lacked any purpose in life. Felt empty. Learning was stagnant. At Deloitte, I truly feel like I am a part of something special and incredible, with unlimited learning opportunities. What I've been able to experience through travel and working with high IQ and EQ colleagues is something that industry lacks. Sorry I don't give a f about attending someone's baseball game, going to jazz night, or doing any of that BS activities people in industry get excited about in their 9-5 life
Same here OP. I feel like my friends are gaining transferable skills, while I’m stuck doing my managers bitch work.
DD2- re-evaluate your life. Op- I hear you. I am a late consultant boomer. Yes I am a manager at 35, but I do have a very fulfilling life with friends and family. I don’t understand when I see posts here where people going on and on about having no friends. It depends on what you value in life. I do think you can have both to a certain extent. In my last 7yrs in consulting I did make some lifelong friends. Try to figure out a balance.
DD2 - You seem like a giant square like many others in this profession. How old are you ? I️ know plenty of older consultants that had that “I’m a consultant that’s too cool for a life.” mentality and their lives straight up blow. Also how are those BS activities that only people in industry get excited about ? Bruh bruh bruh. You got it all wrong. How many friends do you have ? No your mother doesn’t count.
Nope. Friends outside of consulting don’t have the same cash flow. And I rarely work 40+ hours per week
Let alone realizing how hard it has been to leave. Exit opps not going as expected but still refusing to give up.
Nobody is friends with snotty basement dweller DD2 😩😆🙄
