People who are habitually late to team calls then force everyone to stay on longer... thoughts? Advice?

Drop off the calls that they don’t join and send a note about “rescheduling as not everyone was able to join.” They will quickly get the message.

Two suggestions

1. Don’t wait more than 2m. Make it a known rule that calls start after a 2m grace period otherwise they go on with no recap for those who are late or the call owner Can reschedule if they prefer. Do it consistently and the culture will change.

2. Don’t schedule calls for 30m or 60m. Make them 20 or 45/50. Book it 3:10 to 3:45. Etc. Create more gaps in people’s calendars. Space for breaks and email and bathroom etc.

Done together these two things will help.

I had a boss way back when who was very clear that our time was valuable, and so was hers. Therefore, her meetings started on time and they ended on time. And if you were late, that it was your problem to catch up, because she wasn’t going back.

And if she was in a meeting that was running long? She’d leave.

I’ve taken that leadership to heart. If you’re late to my team meeting? You miss what was discussed, and catching up is your problem. And if you need people to stay late to discuss something because you didn’t get context because you were late? Also, your problem - not mine.

Cold? Absolutely.

Effective? Completely.

Hi - AMEX sign up bonus is higher than ever. DM me if you would like a referral link, I’ll split my bonus with you as well :)

How to negotiate salary when you’ve given them a range? I recently panicked and told the recruiter my expected range. If I get to the offer stage, I assume they will offer me the lower end of my range and of course I don’t want to sound ungrateful or greedy, but is there a way to negotiate to a little higher?

Btw I would be fine with the lower end of my range if offered, I’m just curious because I gave a range and not a hard number, is there a way to negotiate?

I work a lot and find it hard to meet people. Just wondering how others cope?

Hi Accenture , I am in talks of coming in as a manager in the Netherlands. However, I can't get a clear perception of the payment range for a manager funtion. How much is usually considered for the function? Or is it related to skill level?

Could anyone give me some context and indication for a manager (with some experience)?

If a position for which I had a first round interview has since been put on hold, would it be reasonable to ask for an informational interview with the would-be hiring manager? In my experience, "on hold" has always been synonymous with cancelled. It’s frustrating and I like this particular agency, so I just want to make the most of this. Maybe there are other ways to handle these situations?

Been in PR & w/ the same company now for 8 years, and every day I fantasize about submitting my resignation. Definitely think the pandemic has made it more clear how burnt out I am and how much I despise my job & the people I work with. However, not sure what my next move should be & also feel I don’t have the head space to really think about it while staying at my current job. Has anyone quit their job & taken time off to sort their next move? If so, was it career suicide or the best decision?

I’ve recently come to the conclusion that I have no passion for the work I’m doing. While I love the craft of storytelling and enjoy working with many of my colleagues, I have zero interest in the accounts I’m on, have concerns about the flailing leadership at my agency and am at a crossroads. But I’m at a point in my life where I’d rather be running toward something amazing vs running away from something I dislike. Looking for stories of those who made a switch, no regrets. Thank you.

When pitching for earned media content how many follow ups do you tend to send? I always send one but never know if two would be helpful or start to become annoying for the the reporter/news desk.

I received an offer and asked about their parental leave. I don't plan on having kids anytime soon but would like to in 3-5 years and hope I can start a long-term career here. Was that a weird question to ask? The company initially responded that they are rewriting it so I didn't get much detail.

Brand Strategy/Planning roles aren't typical in PR. So every new Account hire arrives with no experience working with a Strategist. I'm tired of explaining/showing my role adds necessary value. I love strategy, but I have an offer at another agency to move into Account as Group SVP. They want to "customize" the role for my experience, but I'm afraid it will just be on paper and people will expect me to know things I just won't. I can't afford to be fired. Thoughts? Considerations? Watch-outs?
