Slower pace. No clear promotion path in sight to work toward, ie if you’re used to being driven by the “up or out” model, here it’s just the 4-year cliff that sorta motivates you. A fair amount of busy work because big tech is bloated, but everyone needs to justify their existence by putting together mini projects that no one needs, ie if you think you’re working on bs client projects, it won’t stop, you’ll just have a bit more agency over which bs you work on. Teams are often spread across the globe, so even after covid, chances are you won’t see your manager and some other teammates in person, ie camaraderie that is central to consulting teams (team dinners and such) is nonexistent here.
Idk I mean I enjoy creating a connection with those that I’m working with. Makes me feel a little more engaged in the work when I have a connection with my team.
