People who stand up as soon as the plane lands, can you explain why? Not being snarky, but I don't see how it benefits much?

What now

If I’m in the aisle, I stand up. 6’4 and I’m ready to stretch my legs. If I’m at the window I start scooting over as soon as the person next to me is cleared so I’m not holding up the people further back. If each row clears only 15s faster, that means the poor slobs in the back can get off 10m faster. I think they appreciate it.

Stretch the the ol legs

like

I know in not going anywhere but just need to stand up.

What I don’t understand is why it is questionable or considered rude / impatient if some people want to stand while they wait to exit the aircraft? If a flight is late, of course people should allow others to get off quickly to make connections, but if it is on time, who cares if people are standing or sitting while waiting to de-plane?

like

Because it feels good to stand up? Why do ppl have such an issue with this, what the hell does it matter to you if I move from my aisle seat to stand in the 12 inches of space next to me

likesmart

They charge you money to board first; they have yet to charge you to get off first. So it’s a free lunch, and people like free lunch.

likefunny

But effectively they do charge you more to get off first i.e. first class

I like being efficient so I’m standing up and grabbing my bag while others try to hold the line to be nice. Not sure why it’s considers dumb to stand up.

likesmart

This is why I stand too... especially if I’m towards the front of the plane.

like

I have been that person, because my next flight is in 40 minutes, so I want to get ahead of the crowd asap. Another time is because I have to pee ASAP.

like

I only stand up if my ass is killing me from sitting for a while lol

like

I’m 5’1”. I can standup straight and stretch without my head hitting the overhead. Not sure why tall people get up.

likefunny

Im 6'2 and my legs get CRAMPED from sitting in those seats. Need to stretch them by standing asap. Even if its just back stretching by kneeling on the seat if im by the window.

If I’m in an aisle seat I’m going to stand up and stretch and start getting myself organized, grab my bag if it’s easy to get to, etc. We all have places to be, let’s be efficient. The people that stand up and start inching forward when there’s *nowhere to go yet* can chill the eff out though

likesmart

I do it so....
1) run to the restroom
2) run to get the gate checked bag
3) run to get the Uber (depending on airport) --- LGA is insane
4) GTFO the flight!

like

I do it to stretch my legs and be respectful of the people in the row beside me. Why does it bother you what other people do?

like

To stretch. Wait until you get old.

like

I get up because I want blood to circulate through my legs again. I also sneakily want to signal people ahead of me to hurry up and get off so I can get off. It works 🤷🏻‍♀️

like

To show my aisle mate whozzzz boss 🤜🏻

like

We knew that.

I have a tiny bladder and like the window seat so by the time we land I’m bursting and hoping to run to the nearest bathroom ASAP

like

Why spend a minute more on the plane than you have to? Get up. Get out. Let the plane board and fly out again.

likesmart

People who don’t have their s*** together when it’s their turn to exit are far worse than someone stretching their legs

What’s the best way to search for flights using points? I’m trying to see how many points different flights would be but I’m new to all of this. I tried going directly to a few carrier sites and they either required me to already have a rewards membership and/or enough points before I could even search or their sites were slow and unreliable (would error out and I’d have to start over).

Looking to take a family vacation out west in August and my mom really want to go to Big Sky. I really want to do Yellowstone, but I feel like it’s best to stay in the park for a couple of nights to really experience Yellowstone, rather than a day trip in from Big Sky. Thinking we should do a couple nights in Big Sky and a couple nights in Yellowstone. Planning to fly in and out of Bozeman. Any recommendations for Big Sky or Yellowstone? Anyone stayed in Yellowstone?

Colleague has put in his resignation. They are offering him whatever he wants to stay including 4days a week work from home. He’s not bluffing and plans to leave. However, at this same time I was asked to begin working as a supervisor for the engineering team and I would get a promotion at the beginning of the year. I have been supervising and managing our team of 6 for months with no extra pay or bonuses. I was told yesterday that raises will be light this year. Yet today they spare nothing.

I got a call for a Java position. I told them I do not develop in Java. I do JavaScript with React. He says “oh yes, that is what the client wants”. So I sent my resume. When he sent the confirmation email it stated Angular/Java. I told him that I don’t have much Java skills. He then sent this (pic) as a response. 🤔🤔🤔
When I spoke to the client she had no idea why the recruiter added angular react as it was just a Java developer position, Completely wasted so much time

Hey everyone,

A recruiter from
Google agreed to have a call with me tomorrow. I was looking to apply for the APMM position. Even though this recruiter is not specifically involved in hiring APMMs, I think he could help me out.

I am new to this and not 100% sure how to proceed on the call.

Do you have any suggestions for:
Are there any specific questions that I should ask?
Is there anything that I can show to make a good impression?

Any other advice is appreciated 🙏🏻

Our sales team sells membership for $30k-$75k and make about $400 on each sale now matter how much. Each month management takes $500 for a “minimum performance charge.” All and all, my colleague has made the company over $400k this year and has only made 0.2% of that ($8k). Sales reps also report to 3 different people on average and there’s no cohesion between the 3. It’s wild.

Need for travel has been one reason why some of our jobs could not be outsourced to remote delivery & low cost off-shoring. If travel is fully or >50% eliminated, it can be a real threat to management consulting as we know it. So there needs to be an “optimal ratio” of travel to client locations, home office, and WFH, to protect our consulting models. Since we need some face time with clients, and some interaction with colleagues, the optimal balance should be possible. Share your thoughts.
