Im in the final round of interviews at VMware and news came on Monday that they are being acquired by Broadcom. Is this something that I should be concerned about? I know layoffs can happen after a merger/acquisition but there’s not much overlap between the two companies (chipmaker vs cloud infrastructure). My job will be a Sr Business Analyst role in internal strategy/improvement Any advice from folks experienced in M&A?
Deloitte Slaughter, Part II - There’s a new story out of the Deloitte gossip machine, unverified for now. It seems they will be going through another bigger round of layoffs in the fall, once the voluntary program expires (mid-Sept). They already have a couple of scenarios and are populating names in each of these, mostly based on metrics. Anyone else hear this? When will the bloodbath stop...
Don’t know why, but I am not feeling afraid of getting laid off. And also I don’t feel like pushing to get another job in case that happens. I am fed up with this visa nonsense, the corporate slavery they have in name of H1B. And also this whole world in turmoil due to covid has left me thinking what better i could do to add value to the society. Adding to the agony of American dream is the civil unrest in US, trump again for 4 years, more guns, absurdity of USCIS etc.
i can’t believe Publicis just laid off Marcel
B4 layoffs from beginning of pandemic - low performers or last in first out? Wondering for recruiting purposes.
I was laid off 2 months ago. I have 2 offers now: (1) staffing agency that has lots of experience with H1b transfers and (2) Series A startup that found me through Linkedin and I will be their first hire for my specific department but this will also be their first time sponsoring an H1B. The staffing agency is a safe bet because of the immigration issues. On the other hand, the startup opportunity will be an amazing step for my career. Is it risky to file for H1B with Series A startup?
Why did Deloitte’s federal practice have layoffs? Given that the clients are large government entities. I can understand it happening in commercial but federal makes no sense
My MDs position was eliminated today. Is that a bad sign that layoffs are coming on my team?
People really get fired up in this bowl...
Anyone see Wendy’s post on Instagram about We Are Unlimited today? Seems like a weird post/thing to celebrate after all the layoffs this week.
My husband was fired last week entirely unexpectedly by his new boss (who started 6 weeks prior). HR told my husband they didn’t need a reason to fire him (which is true in our state). How is he supposed to explain his firing since he doesn’t even really fully understand why he was fired? For what it’s worth, three weeks prior to being fired, he provided some really direct feedback to his new boss to try to get him to stop micromanaging. That’s all we can come up with as a reason.
Heard a story about someone paying a creatives severance in penny’s and making him carry it out of agency. Sounds like BS but so insane it might be true...anyone hear this too?
My coworker, a senior copywriter, was just laid off. They've got tons of experience. I've seen them churn out 5 individual scripts in an hour. Any leads I can throw their way?
Lol. Anyone else in danger of getting remixed? -- "Marrisa Mayer forbade her managers from uttering what she called “the L-word,” (layoffs) instructing them to use the term “remix” instead."http://mobile.nytimes.com/2016/02/02/technology/yahoo-employee-ranking-system-lawsuit.html
Have a partner who redlines to death just to feel important, nothing necessary or substantive. As a little experiment, I took an old motion he already drafted on his own and changed nothing but the heading and gave it to him for review. He tore it to SHREDS. I’d definitely get fired, but you have no idea how much I want to tell him it was his own work to call out the hypocrisy.
Can anyone help me? I just got laid off , my background is in FP&A and Operational Risk Management
Not crashing anymore.

Anyone here working at Keystone strategy post MBA or been through their recruiting for MBAs/PHDs or post MBA/PHD hiring? I've an interview coming up with them and I'm curious as to what to expect.
Love the Starbucks spinach and feta wrap but hate that they nuke it to oblivion in the microwave and it ends up served as a perspiring mess of flaccid goo. Amirite?
I’m having an existential crisis after watching this video explaining why we like The Office

90% totally against Trump. 10% curious to see what would happen if he becomes President. Think I represent 95% of the anti-Trump crowd. I despise everything he stands for but....
So EY sold its consulting business to Capgemini 15 years ago and 15 years later they rebranded advisory to consulting and the consulting group is now 15 times bigger than Capgemini's. What the...!
Hope this makes your Monday better! (Or at least more filled with 🐶 and 🍕.). puppyfoodie.weebly.com
Looking for advice here - I am 26 and living in nyc, my current roommate who I went to college is a total bum, makes messes, never helps out with getting apartment supplies we need, never wants to go out... just video games 24/7. Debating whether to move to a single and let my monthly savings take a big hit.. or to stick it out another year or two. I am in a good financial situation with no debt, but 2k a month would be stressful... has anyone dealt with this before?
Question. What’s the difference between a BA / PM and CM ? I feel like a BA / PM could be a CM but not vice versa. Please don’t be mean or condescending in responses lol.
Anyone have any good and fast recipe ideas?
Anyone else been flying Jetblue and wondering what’s going on with their flights being delayed/canceled? The past two times I’ve been flying out had perfect weather but both flights were delayed 6-10 hours and the entire terminal was filled with people from other delayed flights?
What are your opinions on top Canadian MBAs (Rotman, Ivey, Queens)? How do they compare to the US top 20 in terms of prestige and placement?
Discussion - the bottleneck for boarding is overhead space and how long it takes people to put their bags up. Is there a solution to reduce this? Like preboard bags to reduce overall boarding time?
Would be happy to connect with people who have passed or plan to take the Microsoft Azure Cloud certification, to share some tips :)
I interviewed for my dream role with an aviation startup in Santa Cruz, CA in Feb of 2020. They told me to look for apartments and I had inside info from a friend I was getting the job. As I was getting on the plane back to Stl, I got an alert about covid being found in Santa Cruz. Two weeks later the company basically shutdown for six months. I never got a call from HR. I know it’s a startup, but does HR usually take this long for an offer letter? Don’t want to seem too pushy towards them.
If you keep work-life balance out, those that have moved to the industry from consulting, would you want to move back given a chance? Appreciate arguments for/against
