People who work for consulting companies (as opposed to solo) -- does your company set the tone for the way that you manage projects, systems you use, using Teams or otherwise, or do you go with client preferences when working on projects?

Anything that's on our side that we might give them access to we use our stuff, but if there are bringing something to the table, like where they store documents etc, we will work with their preference on a few things.

It's a mix of both. I work with our stuff unless it makes life harder for the client, then I'll usually defer to their way of doing things.

The company does set the tone and it helps to keep a certain amount of predictability. However, there is also a lot of tailoring for clients.

I have 7.5 year of experience in Microstrategy BI tool. I have got offer from Accenture for 15.96LPA and 27% variable pay. I got another offer from infocepts for 16LPA fixed with 5% variable. Could anyone please help me guide which is better to join. As in Accenture I am told that I will have to work in 2-11 shift where I will be getting 10k extra. Infocepts I am not aware of the project they will put me in..

Moms specifically at Deloitte, I am 8 weeks pregnant and planning to tell the team right after July 4th weekend. I had a question on the administrative/procedural stuff - do I have to let anyone else outside or project team know? When do I have to start thinking about paper work? Who should I let know about the maternity leave?

I switched from audit to consulting, and I thought I’d enjoy my job since I’m no longer ticking the box.. doing something that’s more challenging (what people said lol) .. helping the client etc etc but honestly the job seems pretty much the same. I still work on meaningless BS stuff. Is it because I’m not in ‘real’ (strategy) consulting? I do process improvement / CFO advisory. Or are all corporate jobs pretty much the same other than the pay / wlb (which is def. better)

I feel like I’m not learning anything at my internship. It’s easy work and good pay though. Should I try to take on another project or multiple to try to gain more experience? But I was told it’ll be much harder and I would be expected to work longer hours and managers will be rough on me. Is this worth it when I go to school full-time as well while trying to balance a part time job? (The internship at D is expected to be part time but they might make me work more).

How do you think a swap from MBB to big4 strategy would be viewed? Currently in a flagship office of an MBB and there is basically no strategy. There are 9 miserable cost outs / transformations / PMOs for every 1 borderline strategy case. The staffing lottery in my region means you almost always end up working 75 hours+ on some god forsaken project. Contrast that to what I hear about big 4 strategy: lower hours and more strategy exposure as the crappy projects go to the other MC departments

What do you think that the education system needs to do, to get young people to be better prepared with challenges in life? For example, I grew up in Malaysia, national secondary schools had home science lessons, where we learnt from ironing to cooking to carpentry to sewing to plumbing to soldering on a circuit board where we did individually or in teams. To me, these skills altogether prepped me with a lifelong ‘Swiss Army knife’! Anyone with children with ideas?

Currently a second-year associate at a regional firm. I have become really unhappy with the life-style at a firm and the constant stress of meeting my billable requirements. It was always my goal to go in-house, but I know I likely lack the requisite experience to make a move somewhere that can offer meaningful advancement. Any advice? I know it will likely be that I need to “stick it out” for a few more years, but I am just extremely dissatisfied with the prospect of being at a firm for years.

How do you handle people who are like "I work 9-5, I can't get out of work, can you interview after?" No, because those are our business hours. Do you think we just work non-stop? Also, does anyone else get calls from applicants after 9 pm at night? Like I don't understand what makes people think that's okay? Then again, I am new to New Jersey, Kentucky was never like that.
