Auditor. I’ve just been cruising under the work from home radar thanks to not being in the office. I probably worked 1 hour in the last two months simply because no one has staffed me on anything. I’ve been in my role for 10 months now lol

Stellar. And also leaving soon to deloitte for m&A lol

I like how you think, OP, but I feel like the majority of these people are trust funders or children of business founders.

Honestly, at a Big 4, it isn’t “above your pay grade”, it’s an entirely different job and cost center altogether. It’s called Resource Management, and it should be robust.

And they should be keeping you busy when possible, so if they aren’t, cruise it out. But know when it comes time for layoffs, or bonuses, or promotions, the ones who have been staffed will also have experience, which makes them the wheat and you the chaff.

The overall goal in any work environment is to not be the chaff. So SA1 is right that it’s more ideal that you strive to reach out, so you can at least said you tried. And if you don’t you don’t, either way, it’s on you.

But that’s not to take away from the present; enjoy the ride while it lasts! 🚞

Hello everyone,

I am currently a HR Generalist for a small aerospace company, located in CA. I have been in a generalist role for a little over 4 years now and before that, I did recruiting/safety for about 3 years. I am now looking into getting my HR Certification, but am stuck in between the PHR-CA or the SHRM-CP. Does anyone have any recommendations they can give me?

What should I expect when I make the jump from middle market to big 4 in terms of workload/ overall day to day / etc.?

What would you do?

(Or really this is just me typing out loud. )

Currently 6 years at job A at 100K and 10K annual bonus but lil to no upward mobility. It's safe if not going anywhere.

Recruiter reached out regarding Job B at 130K with greater advancement potential but it starts out at 6 Months Contract to Hire per the agency contract. No bonus, benefits adequate by comparison. There is no guarantee to go full time.

Interview just for practice?

Okay - I know some people like coming into the office 5 days a week and that is really terrific you enjoy that, and that working on-site is such a critical component of your happiness. Most of us don’t want to be here. When you brag about being here late, or brag about coming in every day, no one thinks you’re working harder than the rest of us, or that you’re more valuable than anyone else. Keep doing what you do, just keep it to yourself and mind your own anti-work-from-home business, Kthxbye.

Currently a second year associate in audit and looking for - as ridiculous as it sounds - better pay and better hours. I really like audit but I have only been with the firm for a little over a year and i’m burnt out and worse, starting to lose passion for it. I think the long hours are just not for me. Any recommendations of industries/ careers where an audit experience fits well? (As a side note, I’m considering changing practice within the firm, but wanted to look at all options).

I’m a Tax Senior at a Mid Tier Firm and I’m looking to leave before the 2022 Busy Season. I’m really struggling with what positions to look for or what I would be qualified to do. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I’m open to either tax or accounting positions.

Hi Bowlers,

Had a few job offers on the table from CPG and Tech (non-FAANG) companies for Senior Analyst type roles.

Without negotiating it seems like Tech pays more, is that true? Or can I still negotiate more with CPG companies?

I see a lot of happy posts in this bowl where people are genuinely happy about their industry roles with good salary and great work life balance. Is anyone here willing to dm me and share about their company or refer me? I am searching for completely remote accounting/finance roles. I am also interested in Talent. I have over 2 years of audit experience and CPA. I have been trying LinkedIn and other Job sites but having not much luck. I am getting depressed with my work at this point.

Do you tell people you’re interviewing with you’ve quit your job with nothing lined up? I was speaking with a 3rd-party recruiter and they mentioned to not tell them and that it’s a red flag. Feels dishonest and weird (not sure why it’s a red flag too).

Uber manager role is L5 right? What’s the comp level like / or should be? HCOL city like SF.

If I’m not sure if I am completely ready to jump ship yet, should I still interview with prospective employers and decide after I get the offer? Not sure how this job search works - is it okay to be casually open and interview and decline if offer doesn’t meet expectations?

Left big four as a first year manager for a controller role with a smaller audit client. When I left I had no idea what my long term goal was or where I wanted to end up. Half a year into the new gig and realize it’s not what I want to do. I don’t think I realized the pros of a manager role for a large company at the time, or even a service line change within big four. My daily tasks are repetitive and not challenging and there’s more small stuff to deal with. What should my next move be?

Currently in B4 Audit going from A1->A2 and don’t feel like B4 is the right fit. Got an offer for a smaller regional firm (around 75-100 people) for a 10% raise and have the CPA passed. Is this a good offer?

Most rewarding jobs in personal finance and/or tax? Readyyy go! (Feel free to list specific companies, industries, or how to feel fulfilled in this type of field... really need something I feel fulfilled by). Thanks!

I am working in audit for 6 years now and felt stuck recently. Audit feels like the most taken for granted service line with low salary and bad WLB. Thinking of shifting to advisory, but not sure what’s strand. Any advice? My main consideration is compensation (including bonus) and exit options.

Any one have suggestions on good companies to apply to in the san antonio, tx area? Looking to leave PA for industry. Need that wlb!

Main reason I’m leaving PA is the hours. Are hours something I should discuss during an interview? I’ve only allowed my resume to be submitted because the recruiter said the hours were within my range. My gut says yes because I don’t want to get stuck working unacceptable hours, but I also realize it sounds lazy. I’m a hard worker, but I value my personal time.

Would you leave B4 for a RA position at the IRS? Is it a good idea?

Is it weird to send thank you notes to the interviewers after accepting a job offer?
