As a paralegal, I cannot agree more. Thank you for posting this. If a document isn’t executed correctly, it doesn’t matter how well it was drafted because it’s essentially useless.
That’s true. Most times though, the fix is easy.

Signature pages are ministerial. Just because they’re useful, require some thought be put into them, and can get effed up doesn’t make them something other than ministerial.
The notary stamp is incredibly important. Without, your deal isn’t finalized, may not be accepted by banks/agencies etc etc. The notary stamp is incredibly essential. But still just ministerial. As are filling out forms at the DMV or to get a passport, or at the clerk’s office.
Nothing like getting a document rejected because you didn’t use the correct state specific notary requirements
It's not "substantive" to have to look for information. It would be substantive if you had to use your intellectual prowess or creativity, imho. Almost everything that is done in a law firm requires some leg work. By non-substantive people rarely mean something that requires no leg work whatsoever, they mean it's a thoughtless task.
Agreed with A2. Also, not all transactional work was created equal. I’m in a specialized practice area and often wish I could get nonsubstantive work from time to time as a break. And absolutely nothing is beneath me.
Important, not substantive. But agreed that the person preparing them needs to understand who signs what for whom. Ultimately not that complicated.
Complicated is not synonym of substantive.
