Lol. Slow progression and earning 250 at mid 30s? Which age is this?
I think what MC1 was hinting at is that not many people make ~250 ever in their career.
👏🏼 sign 👏🏼 a 👏🏼 prenup👏🏼
a. Same sex, interracial couple planning to get married in Northern California in FY 2020
b. Both in mid 30s
c. I work in management consulting, partner works in tech
d. Earnings mid $500,000 per annum
e. Current net worth $1.1 M
(We both started our career at the very bottom and worked our asses off to get here. We couldn’t save a lot earlier in our career, went to grad school, and hence the slow progression in the savings/net worth.)
c. Future plans: home in two years in Bay Area, adopt a kid in two-three years, save for kids education, retirement, etc.
d. No short-term considerations for retirement. Longer term potential Connecticut (if we want stay close to her family) or may consider Florida depending on how things change politically in the next 20-years
Seeking general financial planning advice for the same-sex (or not), interracial (or not), married couple who have been there and prepared themselves for all of the above mentioned criteria. Any life lessons would also be appreciated.
Hi! Any chances to share your strategy? I am already 30 w/ 200k of net worth, and super urged to increase it as much as possible. Thanks!
obligatory weird flex. Here's what I would think:
- talk to each other to see if a prenup is something you would consider.
- talk about your financial goals (if you don't buy in the bay area, you can certainly FIRE by 40)
- decide where you want to commingle finances or not.
