Is petsmart Chewy? If so, that’s it

Yes, thanks!

If you represent secured creditors there is a whole different set of cases and the cases you listed will rarely come up. Reason being that secured creditors mostly care about getting primed in a bankruptcy scenario but don't care as much (if at all) about their unsecured collateral or the general obligations of the parent company.

The ones I listed are always talked about at work; secured creditor rep. What other cases do you hear?

Petco, Sealy, Gap

I love to cook. I am trying to find a happy medium between one off beginner cooking classes and culinary school. The perfect scenario would be a multi week class that goes over advanced cooking techniques. Like stuff you may learn in culinary school but for people who just want to learn as a hobby. Any ideas?

My husband and I used to be very affectionate. We used to take at least 2 hrs everyday just to give each other emotional space. We would talk about what we’re feeling and why and so on. It used to be so fulfilling and beautiful.
But since we had a kid, all conversations are with a purpose. It’s either planning the next day, the next move, finances, etc. Amidst this, we lost focus on each other.

Is this normal? Has anyone else experienced this and got back to their original selves?

Hello Fishies-!!!!!

I had question, when we apply for a job in another country, they usually ask a question “Are you legally allowed/eligible to work in that country”

In such a case, do you select yes or no? What is the criteria to answer that question?

How much does a letter of recommendation from your current employer help when lateraling? I currently work at a top-tier regional firm in a small market (1M metro)and I’m moving to a large market. There aren’t any biglaw firms in my current market, but associates at my regional firm regularly lateral to biglaw in big markets. I’ve applied to biglaw firms in the larger market but not much luck. I’m well liked at my firm. Will a letter of rec from my employer be a significant boost to my app?

UPDATE 6: BB here, sending an update from Doha. Mr. THAT Equity Partner and I went to lunch to celebrate our initial prenup redlines and just ran into Lionel Messi! In a flash, Messi bicycle-kicks the plate, which lands all over my outfit. Without missing a beat, he turns to a reporter and says: “That associate’s messy AND eating beans!”

Did you ever had this feeling of not fitting in? People (including non-legal staff) in my team just ignore me. I know I made some mistakes, but resenting a trainee for that reason seems unfair. Just went to farewell drinks of an associate and only two persons out of 14 actively engaged conversation with me. With the rest I had this feeling of forcing everything and of being the awkward one. People were referring to funny stories on cases we’re working on and that I never heard about.

PSA: Buy a house if you are able. I spent the first 5 years in big law annoyed and upset with many things but my life has gotten so much better since I bought a house. I now have a separate office to work from and actually like working from home. I no longer have loud neighbors I share a wall or ceiling/floor with. I have an extra room for my mother in law to stay in and visit my infant child (instead of taking him to her house for visits only once a month). Also no worry about rent hikes.

Fresh Junior lateral and a colleague from past firm (different practice area) asked if I could take a pro Bono case because he trusts me with it. It would be completely creditable under my firm’s policy, but would it look weird to ask for pro Bono credit in my first few weeks post lateral?

Just worried it would look like I’m not prioritizing work that actually earns the firm money. Idk maybe I’m overthinking it. Thoughts? TIA!

Can we be honest for a second? No one has a clear policy for how we should be billing our time and no one wants to ask. I’ve heard perspectives ranging from, “a good faith estimate at the end of the week is sufficient” to “you need to have a timer going at all times and if you don’t turn it off when you pee, you’re committing an ethical violation”... also, “Bill anything that moves the deal forward” vs. “You can’t bill for collating documents. That’s not legal work.”
