I am starting my first job hunt (outside college), wanted to understand if referrals are better than applying directly to a job posting.

I came across a relevant posting in Microsoft, and for a referral I'll have to reach out to a distant friend with whom I haven't connected for 7-8 years. Can I save myself the embarrassment and apply directly for a similar preference? Or will the referral give me some advantage?

Which tech stack worth mastering for being a full stack engineer in reputed organization

I have been offered a job at KPMG within cyber security in the uk. Originally it was a 25% hike offer. Now I have received a 8% hike at Deloitte as part of the current performance cycle along with a 5k bonus (great incentives every year) The only thing is KPMG is offering this in a @kpmg regional location where I’m based plus the disadvantage is I need to pay 2500£ for my dependent visa costs which I can save if I continued with Deloitte. Seen Lot of negative comments about KPMG. Any thoughts ?

Hi, I work in a Fortune 500 company as a markeing specialist. Joined the firm in the summer of 2020 after graduation. Today, my HR rep told me I will get 1.5% increase for the inflation and it is only 1/2 of what other people who had full year. I am not sure this is common in the corporate where they prorate your inflation raise. I got families to take care of and this 1% raise just does not feel good. My performance review was above average as well.
