You can get a PHD in transfer pricing? Lol

You might be surprised by the appeal of working in TP with a PhD. As a PhD you can work in academics as a professor, work in gov't research or work in private industry. Each have their pros and cons.

PhDs in public accounting will likely be making close to $200k after 4 years.

Our TP group more or less all has PHDs

Wow, if a had a PhD I would never work in PA...

@Deloiite1 is that because they start higher, or have more aggressive annual increases?

Do you have any insight on the figures? I heard about $100-115k for starting salary and 10% annual raise.

@PwC 2, Care to share any salary data points then?

I don’t know any

Have anyone done contracting negotiations before? I've interviewed for co A & B and co A extended an offer today. The offer does not meet my current salary. Co B's interview structure is 3 rounds and I've finished my 2nd round today. The recruiter mentioned that since I am a contractor my current salary is incomparable as they will provide benefits, etc. Is this true? I have 2 yrs of contracting HR exp from fortunate 500 co’s & OMW to get my SHRM-CP. Appreciate your advice in advance.

What does compensation review look like for a 1st year consultant with good reviews?

I’m a late 40’s, 3rd year Partner in Big4 who joined as a DEMD after 2 decades in industry. I’m weighing an offer to join another Firm - it’s a straight comp play for 30% higher Comp for a similar role. I realize that the BS is mostly the same at all B4, so I don’t think for a second the grass is greener. But the comp is nice, and I’m not vested enough to lose much money. Did anyone here make a similar jump to another Firm, and in the end, was it a genius move, or did you come to regret it?

I learned that male associates with around six years less experience (and significantly less responsibility) have a salary comparable to mine (w/in $5k). I raised the issue with firm management, and I was told that associates were given a “bump” during the summer because of a “market shift.” I’m waiting to hear when/if I will receive a similar comp adjustment. Given the time that has passed, I am not hopeful. Thoughts on the best strategy for pushing the issue? FWIW - AmLaw 200 firm in ATL.

Seeking advice! I am currently looking to move roles into something related to life sciences. My educational background is in genetics/chemistry and I worked in a few biotech/research labs back in college. However I made the move to tech for the pay bump and new experience (I work with financial services companies to innovate their cloud infrastructure and developer services). I REALLY miss working in an industry where I utilize my background in cell biology, genetics, chemistry, etc. contd.
