Philly fish, how’s the South Philadelphia neighborhood (Wharton / Dickinsons Narrow area)? Would you live there?

Most of the people I know who live there are from the area. So I’d say it depends on what you’re looking for, but as a relative newcomer I wouldn’t personally like it

It is not your classic fancy center city life that many of your friends will live. But it is a short uber away from center city and can save you anywhere from 300-600 on rent per month depending on how you manage it. There are some good neighborhood restaurants, but the entirety of the neighborhood is oriented towards long-time, working class residents. So that means less "hip" bars, less fancy restaurants, but some damn good cheap food. Depending what your previous exposure and comfort is with this type of area (i.e. normal, working class urban area), your experience will vary. There also is a higher degree of crime than in center city, though not as bad as some areas of north and west philly. I recommend getting to know your neighbors a bit (no matter how different they may seem) as it is def a place where ppl looking out for each other can make a big difference.

I have an offer on the table from a competitor and I’m struggling with a decision. My boss and I get along great and I’m extremely valued, but not seeing any growth opportunity in the future. Same boss is also not kind to most of the team and can be toxic. What they’ve told me regarding growth would be sales (in other words, relying on others), and nothing is being sold. Naturally, the competitor is raving about the growth opportunities. Does anyone have a similar experience or advice?

Starting at Deloitte in September, and I may catch some slack for this question, but I feel like I learned almost nothing in school. I mean I know the basics of accounting, but don’t feel how I thought I would after obtaining a bachelor’s. So my question: how much technical accounting knowledge did you have before starting? Do you learn as you go in this career or am I already behind?

Hi Everyone!

I know the interview process is notoriously slow. But I was wondering what the usual turn around time was for a recruiter to get back to you after onsite with the initial feedback (Tech vs. Non-tech). This could be how you're trending/unofficial results prior to HC or TM. I'm wondering if it's really radio silence for 1-2 weeks until results? Thank you!
