Pissed because I got staffed on an 8 month virtual project. Missing out on what I see are major perks of this job. Any way out? Would you be pissed?

8 months of working from home sounds pretty sweet tbh

like

Am I missing something? What are the perks of sitting in metal tube with recycled air for 10 hours per week, waiting with a bunch of bozos racing to be the first one in that tube, sleeping in a bed that isn't my own in a room that has been questionably cleaned, having the only time to workout be 5am, etc.? Is it the long hours and pay that is less than law and finance that's the perk? I guess I pay less out of pockets for wine and restaurants than I would otherwise, but hey, priorities are priorities if you're a foodie.

Virtual projects are a godsend. If you're efficient, you easily work less than 40 hours a week and get to have a social life during the day. Agree with D2. Not to mention the generic boring offices versus the comfort of my own home.

I feel you. I've been on a remote project since October. It's nice bc you don't have to wear real pants Monday-Thursday BUT you also don't get to interact with the team on the same level

like

You can be in a six-month long relationship! One month each for ramp-up and ramp-down. Woohoo.

like

Yes, same boat and in my mind what's the point of consulting without the perks

like

I'd trade my hotel and airline status/points for a local or work remote project any day

like

I refuse to work local. I am very vocal about my desire to be on the road and always have been so people know if they stick me at home for too long I won't be happy. One project wanted me and let me stay at hotel only 27 miles from my house and expense meals as travel. Rest of local team had to/got to go home at night. They thought I was crazy and I thought they were. Note: I am married but husband is also consultant so no point to give up hotel points for an empty house.

Btw OP you can eat 💩💩

You should enjoy it while you have it because it won't last

like

^there is a huge difference between working local and working from home though. It really depends on what situation applies to OP

Working local sucks. Working from home = awesome

Hey all! I am transition from Insurance Sales to Tech Sales (BRD and SDR). The final interview for one company is a research project. Theyve asked me to research 3 people at their company to whom Id sell a product to. Any advice? I need to inform them what product id sell, what id say, and how id research them. In insurance sales it is mostly building relationships over phone/email versus research online

Any paralegals out there that have worked for just awful attorneys? My previous supervising attorney would forge my notary signature, force me to work off the clock and while on vacation, and basically treated me like her personal assistant. I remember one time she asked me to watch her baby while she went into a client meeting. My favorite memory of all was when she made me drive to the office at 10 pm to see if her laptop was there. Good times.

How does your firm calculate your pay each year? Is there clear quantification of successful marketing/client development efforts, time towards client billing responsibilities, time towards leadership responsibilities, your billed and collected time, and work you delegate to others? If so, how is it broken down? Is it quantified throughout the year to tabulate how you’re doing, so you can forecast a likely year-end amount for yourself? In other words, how is your number baked up each year?

If I have a client that discounted their product to drive sales (in a few different cities to test price elasticity), then now will return to original pricing. How would you forecast that? I believe it would be important to make sure the discounted pricing isn’t skewing the future forecasts, but would I just not consider them or need to apply a formula to normalize them? Client only uses excel and historical data.

Hi Guys - Need your advice. CCTC-18, YOE -7.5, QA automation Offer in hand- 28 LPA, 75 days NP left Accenture is retaining with 25%hike and leadership told that remaining 25% will be covered in the dec cycle. Should I consider this offer or look for outside opportunities. I feel that getting 28+ package will be difficult at my YOE and techstack. Also, there might be some onshore opportunities in near future in current project. Please suggest.

Hi everyone, I need advice. I currently manage a small team of my own AM ICs. I also managed another team while their manager was on leave. The manager recently returned & took their team back- their style is more dictating and “do as I say” and not very player/coach or collaborative (like mine) . Their team keeps coming to me for advice and complaints about their manager- they are having a tough time working with them. I have encouraged the ICs to escalate to leadership - what would you do ?

My wife and I are looking into using a wealth manager. My wife works at a big four accountant in M&A, which restricts our trading (we need to pre-clear any symbol before trading, robotraders not allowed). It looks nearly impossible to trade as she can't have any work relation to 'related entities' of a symbol (which we can look up in the pre-clear system: often up to hundred for stock, thousands for ETFs). Which seems intractable for large portfolios. Does anyone have experience with this?

With the looming threat of recession, should I stop the aggressive payments I have been making on my student loans? Fishes, would love to have your thoughts on this - I graduated school last year and have been aggressively paying down my student loans (50K left now, started at 91K last summer). With a recession looking likely, should I revert to minimum payments and save more? For context, I have enough saved right now for 4-5 months of living expenses plus some additional money in 401K.
