Sounds like the person is just insecure and looking to pawn off some of that insecurity to a Senior. Seniors (and everyone for that matter) are expected to make mistakes from time to time. It’s OK. Sounds like you just need to clear the air with this person, but then distance yourself from them going forward.
Something similar happened to a co-worker of mine. I think it's better though after they talked it out and I think we explained to my managing director he's acting a little selfish. It did take a year to get in a good space though.
Feel like harm already done. Move forward, try to find another new leader to work for.
Why was he so quick to assume the worst possible cause of the lapse in communication—> output? I don’t think I’d be able to follow his leadership if he’s always this reactionary, but maybe I’m just soft
