PI/technology implementation vs cyber security. Which one pays more/could lead to more interesting opportunities down the line?

Long run I think@cyber sec with tech skills .but if you are doing actual development that will never go out of market

What about niche cyber areas, things other than penetration testing/development work

Cyber skills are definitely in demand but I don't know how much cyber strategy actually plays a role even now.cyber strategy will be more like audit I suppose.lots of review work and less money

Security is great. As for skills. Focus on a security area for 1-3 years....make it to expert and then move on to the next area. After 2-3 cycles of that you will be a ballar

As for cyber security strategy....there are some really cool opportunities in this space to align tech and biz strategy. But alas what Advisory1 said above is true....to many companies think that cyber security strategy is just an audit.

To do cyber security strategy...you have to hit an MBB or a smaller firm that can be creative in how they approach security (cough cough...like us)

Is MBB known for/good at cyber?

Not at all

ACN and Deloitte is very prominent in this space from all aspects.

Mckinsey has an interesting take on security. They do a lot of security strategy that is tied to business financials.

Outside of them...acn and deloitte have great security technology practices

Security strategy in the Csuite is all focused on scare tactics & affect on stock price.

As someone who presented to c level execs and boards of directors while at acn and the big 4.

I can tell you that you are partially correct. Scare tactics are good if you want to sell a tactical solution, but they wont get you anywhere when it comes to convincing a C level exec to re-org their group, or move to a cloud solution versus an in house solution.

It really just depends on what type of work you want to do
