#1 city for American dream and cost of living; friendly people; great public schools; fun football team; great place to raise a family cons: provincial culture, but still lots of science and ways to make it work for you. My family is from there so hence my snobby provincial comment! Haha

I worked in Pittsburgh (PA, my family is from the KS version) for a few months, have family near there today, and have never met a person from Pittsburgh I didn't like. It's home to a few big companies and Carnegie Mellon. Great for 20 somethings too from what I saw.

Carnegie Mellon alumni plus worked there. Had (incorrect) stereotype of blue collar city. Absolutely love the city. Awesome bar scene. Laid back if you find D.C./NYC/etc too much (I live in one of those cities)

Tech is booming, education and health care is very good. As a matter of fact, it has a bit of every industry within the city and surrounding towns. Cost of living is great. I am thinking about going back

A1- used to live in NYC, currently in DC, and keep trying to convince spouse that we should move to Pitt for that reason haha

Hosts the dirtiest team in pro football. But other than that, it's a lovely city filled with great people.

Don't go. Downtown Pittsburgh is a measly 6 block radius of bars and restaurants that are just so-so. I'd you're looking for good ethnic food of any variety you're kind of SOL. It's affordable but you'd have to drive everywhere as public transit is close to nonexistent. Some big companies are there Highmark, PNC, Google. When I worked there the crowd was college people and young families. Not a great place to network or meet people unless you want to pound beers in south side after work.

Amazing food scene that's growing. My bf is there so I visit him a lot and love it!

Haven't been there, but I'll just add that I've heard a lot of good things recently as well.

How long are H4 and EADs take time to get approved? My H1B transfer to a new company got approved in 10 days, based on PP. But no updates on H4 and EAD, what are the timelines? Did anyone on H4 go for a biometrics interview in the last 3 months? or do they pull your old biometrics and use them in this current scenario?

It feels weird posting a LinkedIn post in FishBowl, but I found this post from Jamal very insightful. I would have just copied the text, but I want to give him credit.

Do MBA dropouts list the Bschool on their resume (and note they dropped out)? Ex. Yale School of Management, MBA - Dropped Out/Unfinished, etc. Is it frowned upon?

Was asked if I thought we should bring in a man to manage a team because he would have an alpha presence. I calmly* asked if he thought I were incapable and told him I was, hell ill be alpha 👩‍🏫.

For those that are maxing out their 401k making 75-100,000 are you also saving for a house at the same time? I feel like the advice is to max out a 401k before investing/saving, but is not feasible.

I heard that they are laying off every employee the day before their 401k plans vest for the calendar year. Pay cuts expected for those that are spared the layoff

Thoughts on putting MBA GPA on resume? It's above average, nothing crazy, but I have it on there because pre-MBA I was non-profit/NGO and use it just to show I could hold my own against classmates.
