Budapest is my favorite city in the world!!! So jealous. All about the spas and several super affordable Michelin restaurants and dope bars. Vienna sucks unless you like hordes of tourists and big chain stores.
Dresden - one of best and oldest christmas markets. 3h drive from prague.
I did the same 2 yrs ago. It will be freezing so make sure to bundle up.
@A1 - how was your experience? Despite cold weather were you able to enjoy these cities? Or should I choose any other cities?
As long as you bundle up, you should be good. And mulled wine to save the day. Vienna- I personally wasn't a big fan but I think it's just me. I did Rome/Venice the previous year so was kind of done with gaudy palace and Churches. Christmas market was the best Vienna had to offer. Stayed at the meridian which is across the opera house. And yes, do go to an opera. Prague- on the other hand, I loved. There is another post about Prague 2days ago- see if you can find it. I had my recs there. Loved BP as well. If you are from north and ok with driving in the snow, I would drive. I hear Austria country side is where you really want to be.
@A1 - Thanks a lot, I found other post too😊 Out of these 3 cities which two you recommend for spending Christmas and new year? I was thinking of Christmas in Prague and New Years in Budapest.
Everything shuts down in Christmas- be prepared for that. Only couple of restaurants that you will need to make dinner reservation. Other than that, nothing is open. We did ours in Vienna. NYE was in Prague which we loved. We didn't want to do clubbing so we stayed in old town square by the clock and after midnight we just bar hopped. It was amazing.
