Short term Airbnbs aren’t exactly legal in NYC so there’s kind of a small risk your rental gets raided by city agents while you’re there

I’m a guest of the owner/tenant and they’ve just left home and will be back late at night.

Use hotel points. If you are Marriott, stay at Essex House which is a JW Marriott and make sure you ask for a view of Central Park. Great location, close to the subway, cabs easy to get around midtown. Also if Marriott, stay at the Marquis and you’ll be right In the middle of tourist central, 42nd street with the lights and such. If you are Hilton, the midtown Hilton sux but it is expensive and convenient and also nearby same part of town. If you are Hyatt, Grand Hyatt at Grand Central is great location but hotel sux. All NYC hotels suck and are pretty old. I wouldn’t pay my own money for any of them. Definitely use points to save money and don’t waste it on these crappy hotels. Also, refuse to pay their stupid “resort fees”. Super stupid add on cost like they are a big Hawaiian resort or something. Just refuse. If you have status they will capitulate. Use the phrase, “so this must be one of those other shitty chain marriotts” and they will up their game.

I’ve been getting a lot of Instagram ads from VRBO and the places look super nice. If affordability is your goal it might not be the best but worth a look

Most hotels here are not good but the chain hotels in New York are especially terrible. It might be more fun/cheaper to stay at one of the trendy boutique hotels in Williamsburg than a crappy chain in midtown

Quick outfit etiquette question from a junior lawyer... I am going to be attending an inspection of our client’s product (destructive testing to be performed on the product at a lab). What is appropriate attire? Can I get away with jeans and a nice pair of sneakers with a blazer or button down or should I look more professional? For context, all experts and opposing counsel will also be attending, 6-7 hrs, and it’s taking place in Southern California. Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks!
