Planning honeymoon. Trying to decide between Maldives or French Polynesia. FP is easier to get to from the U.S. but Maldives seems to have more options. Anyone been to either? Recommendations? Thanks!

Go to Maldives. You won't regret it.

Ha. I know who you are. I think. Maldives would be my guess

Those are such basic choices OP. If you're so set on the Indian Ocean, take a look at North Sentinel island. Beaches completely unspoiled by man, and the staff will give you a welcome like no where else.

Went to Maldives for my honeymoon and it was amazing. Perfect place to relax after all the busy wedding activities.

I have been to both - fp is a better bet in terms of overall natural beauty

Nice try D2. I'd like to send a few of my colleagues to North Sentinel as well.

Lux South Ari Atoll Maldives. Was there for our honeymoon. Just do it. Also, we stopped over in Dubai for a few days to break up the flights a tad.

Lux booked our entire package for us, including airfare on Emirates and seaplane transfers in the Maldives. Chi City > Dubai > Male, and I think we were around $1500/each for airfare, which included the seaplane transfer from Male to the resort.

Debated between Maldives and Fiji (coming from east coast) went with Fiji and had zero regrets. Plus Fiji at the moment is less touristy so definitely get more bang for your buck

Hmm @D1 do you? Lol Also many of the resorts mention mandatory speedboat transfers that can be hundreds per person. Are there any cheaper options? Perhaps, booking directly with locals who have boats vs thru the hotels?

I'm in an interesting position. I got an offer for an Associate manger (level 8) role at a tier 2 firm. I asked if bumping it up to level 7 (Manager) role is an option, and was basically told that it is if I really want to, but I should be careful what I wish for. SM basically told me that he thinks I will be a lot better set up for success in the long run if I were to start at level 8. What are your thoughts? I would be coming from a large ad agency where I'm an Account Director.

PwC fish, joining the Mgmt Consulting ops transformation practice as M1 in ~6 weeks (H1 transfer dependent), coming in from a Major IT (WITCH) firm and pretty excited to join. Any specific tips/suggestions to help me do well in the first few months and long term? Or prep / things I can do before joining which can be useful? I have time during the holidays. Thanks in advance, appreciate it!!

Fish who’ve had bathroom renovations: if you have a tile base shower, did your contractor do a flood test for leaking? I have a potential contractor I like in most ways, except he resists that, saying he’s never done one before and hasn’t had a problem in 26 years. My project is because the pan leaked in the current shower so I’m clearly skeptical/skittish about this. But I can’t tell if this is a step people actually do, or if it’s just recommended online but no one does.
