CPO > rental (because rentals are run into the ground).
I always buy CPO.

Bought at 2018 Corolla with 32k miles 6 months ago from Hertz Car Sales. The prices were very competitive but non-negotiable. I liked not having to haggle. I also liked getting a car that I know has been maintained regularly.

That’s what she said?
CPO- bought my 2017 Camry Hybrid this way and it’s been a great car.
I've owned 2 Yota-Rollas in my day... 1995 and 2005. Both were excellent and purchased from Toyota dealerships as CPO. Agreed with the notes to avoid a former rental car. Plus, with rental economy cars they tend to leave off some options you may want. Cant go wrong with a Camry... but IMHO I'd prob go with the smaller of the two.
Rentals are worse than private sale because 1) people who rent don’t take care of the car and 2) the Rental agencies make repairs on their own and do not report accidents/repairs to Carfax (or equivalent). Repairs are also often band aid since they always offload the cars after 50-100k miles anyway.
They're not deliberately hiding. They just don't report. That's how most used car sales work. There's no reporting requirement.
You're suggesting it should be illegal for a car owner to fix their own car and not report it to a private entity...
Also, how are you trying to decide between a camry and a corrola? They're at very different price points aren't they? Camry is pushing lexus.
