I think Telluride is my favorite Colorado mountain town. Steamboat Springs is also up there. Otherwise, there are classics like Keystone, Vail, Beaver Creek, Aspen, etc. If you want to avoid touristy places altogether, Leadville, Idaho Springs, and Grand Junction is mostly devoid of tourists (but also less exciting).

Thanks E1, I have been to all the major ones as a tourist but for remote work, looking for something non-touristy. Any reviews on copper mountain/ summit county?

Silverton, Ophir, Ouray, telluride if you can afford it. Definitely want to be in the San juans.

OP, I would do diligent research before you choose a place to work remotely out of. A simple Google search will pull up the local news for any of these towns, and those news website are currently littered with articles about the low supply of housing available for year-round residents in the area. Many towns are bringing in new mandates, allotments, moratoriums regarding STRs (AirBnB, VRBO). If you are looking for local to tourist areas but a non-touristy town to live here are a few near Summit County: Georgetown, Fairplay, Kremmling, Leadville, Buena Vista.

I have been at my new role remote for 3 months now. Things are good but I always feel like I’m not doing enough even after doing all my work and asking for more at times. I have this anxiety I could get fired at any moment or my boss/team will think I’m not contributing enough. It’s harder being remote because I feel my boss and team can’t see me and we can’t build those connections in office. Why do I have this anxiety.

Fauci: “In an unlikely but conceivable turn of events, what if [a scientist performing gain of function research] becomes infected with the virus, which leads to an outbreak and ultimately triggers a pandemic? Many ask reasonable questions: given the possibility of such a scenario – however remote – should the initial experiments have been performed? Scientists working in this field might say – as indeed I have said – that the benefits of such experiments outweigh the risk” Was it worth it?

Anyone have tools they’ve given their parents to help them learn / be more comfortable with technology as they WFH? My dad has been struggling having to rely more on computers / technology since he has started WFH. He’ll call me to help, but oftentimes I can’t sit through and help him figure it out since I am also working. Usually I’d just do it for him since it’s faster but in the long run him not knowing how to do things is stressing us both out. Any recs on training tools, etc he could use?

I’ve been in the industry for about 20 years, hundreds of pitches, dozens of speaking events at big shows. I used to be a natural when presenting. Fluid, clever and insightful while keeping it friendly and conversational. Since covid and WFH my presentation focus is totally off. Low energy, nervous, dry mouth, reading off slides, hard to keep my mind in the bigger picture or focus on the story. Womp womp. Really getting me down and not sure how to get the magic back. Depressing.

What is it about law that glorifies morning people so much? I am NOT one and wfh has been so great for me in terms of being able to set my own schedule, but now that we’re starting to go back to the office I’ve noticed some pointed comments about people not being in by 8am. I bill as much (generally more) than other associates, so why does it matter if I start at 9 and work late?? I’m finding it hard to go back to the arbitrary-feeling 8am office start when I know I’m not going to be productive.

Salary c$60k plus 10% bonus and recruitment fee for each direct and referral placement you make (which could add c$30k+ to earnings) we have a great selection of company benefits. Is this package attractive? There’s great opportunity for career development and the company is growing so lots of new roles. We are international too!
