You need to make sure the cat and dog get along, number one. Two of my cats would absolutely hate dogs and one could probably learn to tolerate them. Dogs in a lot of cases don't like cats or are too rough with them. So adopting one of each that has been checked for compatibility is really important. Regarding cost, I don't have dogs so I can't speak to that. Pet insurance is a great investment that I wish I had used and will use on my future kitties. For three cats, I spend about $200 a month on cat food, litter, wet food and enrichment.

I have two cats and I spend $200-$300 per month on cat food and cat litter. I had to get prescription food for one of them so that drives up the cost. This doesn’t include vet visits.

I would also suggest pet insurance. I have two cats that I adopted with pre existing conditions (I didn’t get pet insurance since they would attribute mostly everything to their condition) and I’ve probably spent close to $15k in the 3 years I’ve had them. And this is without having to hospitalize them or any surgeries or crazy treatments.

Late to this but I'd suggest a kitten--if they're raised with dogs they think it's normal (that's what I did and it worked great). Dogs are easier because they're pack animals, just have to make sure the dog has been around cats/not a big hunter.

Trying to decide between two portfolio ops roles, both in the Bay Area: Small-ish VC firm, ~135k base + 35k bonus Medium PE firm, ~115k base + 115k bonus Which would you choose? I’m leaning towards the PE firm bc it’s more hands-on, faster learning curve, and higher TC, but the VC role seems to have a better WLB and generally sounds cooler (getting exposed to VC vs continuing in the corporate world). What do you think?

Does anyone know of where to find remote part time work opportunities for older Indian women? My mom was a part-time after school teacher but has not been doing that due to covid (dad is high risk). I’m having her do some online typing lessons to get her to be a faster typer, maybe find her a data entry gig. She does not want to do nanny’ing / babysitting. She’s a great teacher though and she’s trilingual (Telugu, hindi) - anyone know of where to find opportunities?
