Planning to apply for knowledge specialist roles in MBB. Any insights in to that role? Coming from EY consulting background.

Do you have more specifics on the role you are looking for? Our knowledge specialists are QBs for their area of expertise, serving multiple teams, driving our firm’s knowledge agenda, researching and publishing, and world-class experts in their fields.

I just did something similar coming from EY and absolutely love it so far. There is plenty of upward growth opportunity but also horizontal mobility within the firm if you want to jump to other BCG internal businesses. There are plenty of examples of when these roles get converted to a consulting role as well. I did it to reduce travel for a bit due to some life changes, but I can get used to it, it lets me work normal hours and still be an expert in my field that leads very important work.

BCG KT is a great team as well. BA1 is not accurate. Our KTs also work directly with traditional consilting teams on client cases. Literally you would not know if one is from KT or CT or Gamma or Platinion or DV or ... in a client case. Here it is simply one team.

Thanks guys !. My reason for choosing this role is very similar to the ones mentioned here, want to reduce traveling that I am doing every week for the last 10 years and still want to do something relevant in the industry. Sounds like McK, BCG KT is a place like that from your response. Do you know if they look for experts based on a function I.e. financial close, planning budgeting etc. or more by industries auto, oil gas etc.

Hey the specialists still have to travel M to R

Awesome , thanks BCG1. Can you share how best to prepare for the interview process as well. Case solving or general discussion on projects at EY?

Interested to hear any success stories about M&A attorneys at middle market firms (firm is 600+ but is regional and only does middle market transactions) and from an unranked law school finding an M&A in house role. I want to go in house but can’t fathom doing commercial transactions for the rest of my career but M&A in house gigs for obvious reasons tend to be at Fortune 500 companies that almost always require top credentials. Should I give up? Is my resume just going to the shredder?

I feel like I’m on the outside looking in and I don’t like what I see. I haven’t returned to teaching this year because I was overwhelmed by what was being asked of us and chose to use all of my sick time instead. From this perspective, I see teachers being used and abused. I see teachers asking questions about situations that should never be tolerated. We are the professionals. Why are we allowing this? It’s the Stockholm Syndrome for education. We provide a valuable service. Remember that.

Here is my idea for a startup! I collect all the data from career transitions and use Data Analytics to predict the most likely career transitions. I could start with consulting. What do you guys think about this? I would be able to predict based on your firm(mbb, big4), your experience, which role you are likely to move (Faang pm, strategy manager, move to mbb). I have all the data to do this, but wanted your thoughts. Would the output of this be relevant to you?

I suck at case interviews. :( Engineering undergrad and currently in a tech consulting role. Feel like I lack general business knowledge. Had an interview today for a Strategy position and feeling discouraged. I am great at setting up a framework but I struggle with progressing the case (anticipating what’s next) and the math. What resources can I use that don’t require spending $200-400 on a course? Or, if it really is a matter of taking a course, which one should I take?
