The Lexus NX is just a RAV4. The engine and transmission are lackluster. The Acura and Audi fail to feel special IMO. I would test drive the X3 and the GLC, and see which you like more out of those 2. Both of their base engines are a 2.0l turbo and have plenty of power. I’m not sure about the GLC but the zf transmission in the bmw is basically perfect. If you get the higher trim with the inline6 engine (bmw) or v6 (MB), they’re genuinely quick. They come with all the tech you need (lane departure assist, blind spot monitoring, 360° cameras, CarPlay), drive well, feel luxurious, look great, and all maintenance is free for 3 years. In addition, newer German cars are much more reliable than in the 2000s and earlier. For BMW, their switch to turbocharged 0.5 liter per cylinder modular engine platform has been phenomenal, with lots of power and much more reliable engines. My 2016 5 series has needed just routine maintenance till now. So you can just lease, but buying wouldn’t be a bad idea either. BMW’s best engines are always their inline 6s, so I would suggest springing for the X3 M40i, but the base X3’s 4 cylinder is still great. There’s a few good options you haven’t mentioned that you might want to consider. The Porsche Macan is a great suv if you can stretch your budget a little. The Genesis gv70 is also a very solid choice, and has one of the best interiors for the price. Im a huge fan of where genesis is heading. Feel free to dm if needed

Did you test the AWD X-Line or something lower? Bc almost all of the reviews rate the 2WD options as a pretty bad ride (tire spin on accel, handling, etc.).

Buy a Tesla Model Y. As someone who has consulted for the automotive industry, the german manufacturers have been asleep at the wheel for at least two decades. They are basically selling the same cars all over again since 2000. With voice recognition software that never recognizes your voice (+3000$ extra). Tesla is the real game changer. When buying a Tesla, if you buy a FSD, that’s like buying a chauffeur to drive you around. And you are gonna save a lot of money on maintenance and gas.

Try the genesis GV70 / GV80

As good as they look, I ended up going with the sportiness of the new Sorento, top trim level. Has all of the amenities of the luxury manufacturers

The Q3 is a different (lower) class than the X3/GLC - the Audi equivalent would be the Q5. The X3 just got a facelift and is modern, visually and technically. The GLC is at the end of its life cycle and looks dated - check the new C-class to see what to expect for the interior when they roll it out next year. Audi to me is incredibly boring, but they make good cars of course. An alternative there would be the new electric Q4 - great car.

Audi eTron could be an option as well, it has multiple discounts given is electric

What’s the point of a small luxury suv if it seats the same amount of people as a sedan? The only advantage i can think of is cargo space.

likefunny

Even in the small cars there is space for five people. It’s not just cargo, it’s the driving dynamics. I drive a Range Rover Sport with air suspension and it glides over the road. In small car, you’ll feel every bump in your hip. Then there is the safety issue. Bigger isn’t always better, but in the most cases it is. Get a Tesla Mode Y and you have the best of all.

Got this beauty- GLC300 AMG night package

Love my Macan S. Bought it CPO.

I was in the same boat in Oct and bought the Volvo XC60 - it wasn’t even on my radar but saw the dealership across from Audi and gave it a whirl. One test drive and everything about it felt like leaps and bounds above the rest, bought the same day and haven’t regretted it at all. Note: I didn’t test drive Mercedes

I did almost the same. I was torn between the x3 for sportiness or XC60 for its aesthetic and luxury. I ended up going with XC60 inscription trim.

1. Lease it 2. Figure out your budget 300s - NX, X1 400s - RX, Q3, RDX, GLA 500s - X3, XC60, MDX 600s - GLC, F-Pace, Q5, XC90 800s - Macan

I have a 2021 Q5 and I’m paying sub-$500/mo. Was actually paying more for the 2017 Q5 I traded in.

Go to leasehacker.com and forums to see best leases out there. Volvo is best. For Lexus Instead on NX think about RX.

Hi everyone! I am relatively new to consulting space. I worked with Deloitte in a research role, but have joined an MBB firm at a more front end role. I have a slightly unconventional question to ask (might be political too), but since this is an anon platform, I hope to get honest answers. I wish to know does people care about your looks in consulting (specially when you are on a client facing role?) I am an Indian male, and I have acne (not a lot, but considerable). Cont. in comments

Help!? Have 100k in cash (had been <stupidly> conservative about investing while paying loans). 90k addl. coming in to invest on annual basis going forward (what’s left of base + bonus after taxes, maxing 401k, and all expenses), which mostly comes in end of year bonus (55-60k post tax) and rest monthly (3kish a month). Only big goals are buying house (~$1.25M ballpark) in ~3yrs, contribute to 529 (plan for 1 kid) and maximize long term net worth potential. How would you approach it all?
