Planning to invest in I-Bonds before the end of April to get the 7% rate and hopefully -9% projected rate change in May. I’ve never done it before, am I missing anything?

1. Can’t access for 1 year - does this mean exactly 1 year later I can transfer back to my bank?

2. Give up last 3 months of returns if accessed before 5 years

3. $10k limit so looking at roughly $600 return given the loss of 3 months, taxes, etc - does this seem right?

Anything else to consider?

The site is archaic but it's fine. It's backed by the US government so I wouldn't be worried. Ibonds have been around for decades.

If you buy in april you get 7% for 6months then 9% for the following 6months so you average 8% for the year

Yup, that makes sense and what I’m planning for.

Why wouldn’t you just wait to buy in may to get the 9%?

If you plan to buy them, you should buy this month.

If you buy now: 7.12% for 6 months and 9%~ for 6 months

If you buy in May and after: 9%~ for 6 months and ??? for 6 months

The fed is going to raise interest rates to try and combat inflation. In 6 months that unknown rate is likely lower than 7%. If it isn't, we'll probably enter hyperinflation and/or stagflation and have bigger problems than the ibond rate.

I a mid-level litigator and have an offer at a FAANG, however, I still have roughly $230,000 in student debt. If I can delay my start until June, I will receive the newest round of special bonuses and can make a lump sum payment of ~$50,000 (all principal with the 0%). If I decline the offer and stay with my firm, I can make another $50,000 payment at the end of the year. I ultimately want to be in house, preferably in tech. Would I be crazy to decline to use the bonuses to make big chunk pmnts?

Im in a junior position, have excellent feedback, work hard. I make very little $. I had 2 job offers and told my current company I couldn’t afford to stay there. They immediately matched. 4 months later I followed up and the timing of the adjustment will now align with the timing cost of living increases for inflation which apparently I’m ineligible for. Should this exempt me from a cost of living increase due the adjusted salary 5 months after we agreed to this?

Im 35. Considering to start investing in Real Estate this year. Looking to buy 1 property to start generating cash flow, but most importantly, long term equity. No plans to sell. new to investing. have done some research - reading blogs and a few books on investing. I still have the question of do individuals that take the index fund route… do you all purchase the same funds for different accounts? Example, would you invest in VTSAX across a brokerage and roth account, or would you take a different approach for each account?
