Planning to make a move to NYC in Feb - March. Know rent is cheaper now, but chance it could be cheaper then in winter?

NYC resident here and amateur real estate / COVID trends watcher. My best guess is that Jan-Feb should be rock bottom for our real estate market. That’s classically off season plus we won’t yet have a vaccine at the scale required to assure folks of back to normal.

Agree with this - its already insane to see the prices in my building at the current level they are but its probably going to dip even more by early 2021.

Has anyone dealt with a FIRPTA withholding on a sale? It looks like the seller of a condo I’m interested now is an international student so it would apply. Are there any specific steps to take with this kind of transaction? Is it as simple as withholding 15% of the Sales price from the seller to remit to the IRS or is there more to it?

Need a quick gut check

I’m 25 and make 155k/year but this is my first full year of making 6 figures. $675 mortgage, $200 car payment , maxing out ROTH & 401k and company RSUs.

My mom who selflessly did everything for me desperately needs a car but doesn’t have good credit. A 2023 Toyota Corolla is ~$400/month and I want her to be safe but worry about compounding interest and making a massive financial mistake. Does 5k post tax really make that much of a difference for a few years?

I have been teaching students with special needs for 21 years now. The class size used to be 12:1. Now it’s 15:1, but you can have up to 18 students with the variance. Now my Principal said that you can have up to 19 students!!!! Is anyone else noticing that the self contained class is getting larger?

Hi London 🐠
I am trying to move from Germany and land a job in consulting / startups in London, but having a hard time. I have a Masters from target Uni in Europe mainland, 3+ years of international work experience (US, Asia and Europe) in in-house consulting and currently at a startup. Any insights on what could be the issue? Is it non-traditional route or non-UK degree / exp that’s holding me back to get interviews?

Would really appreciate any advise.
Thanks 🙏
