What’s the average a fedex route driver makes??
Tax benefits include not having to pay the city income tax (~3%) and having lower sales tax on things you buy (6.8% vs 8.9%)
Cheapest move is U-haul truck and friends, but only advisable for small household.
^ My move JC - NYC was $1000 for a 1 bedroom. Movers packed everything and reassembled everything that wasn't in a box.
For the tax benefits, you'd need to also relocate your home office to NJ (assuming BCG has one there) to avoid paying the city tax. Also highly recommend hiring professional movers. Total cost should be no more than 1000 dollars for a one bedroom move. Yelp has been very helpful with finding good movers.
JP urban movers - packed everything for me, 3 guys. 4 hours $119/hr. Voted #1 in NYC, your welcome
EY1: NYC is one of the most zealous enforcers of city tax for people who work in NYC without paying city income tax
How about for larger furniture like bed, sofa etc. Are there people who can disassemble, move and then reassemble bed? Any idea how much will it cost?
That’s awesome! Which mover did you use BCG1?
Sorry don't remember. Was 6 years ago.
@BCG1 lol
If you go the uhaul route, they have independent contractors you can pick from on their website when you checkout. Did that for a move in which I needed to move some big items. It'll usually quote you 2 ppl for 2-4 hours.
There's the lugg app but you're trusting your furniture to amateurs.
K1 you don’t necessarily need to do that. City tax is only assessed on residents of NYC. My home office is NYC and I have been exempt from city tax because I’m not a resident

If you don’t live in the city, you don’t owe the city any money, unless you’re a public employee (i.e., work for the NYC govt). My home office and all my projects were based in NYC and I had no local tax withheld from me (even owed NY state money since I live in jersey)
Because the link doesn’t seem to be working. From the NYS Dept of Tax:
In most cases, if you don’t live in New York City you aren’t required to pay New York City personal income tax. For more information on how to determine if you’re a New York City resident, see Form IT-2104.1, New York State, City of New York, and City of Yonkers Certificate of Nonresidence and Allocation of Withholding Tax.
However, if you’re an employee of New York City, you may be required to file returns and pay taxes directly to the city finance department. To learn more, see New York City Finance Department.
