Planning to travel somewhere hot (preferably on the beach) from Chicago in mid-December with 2 kids (1 & 3 yo). Have been eyeing Cancun due to the 3.5 hour flight. Yay or nay? Any other location and accommodation recommendations? I’m a Marriott Platinum member, but am not limited to only those properties. Just want to chill tfo as much as I can between kid naps and have enough to do with the kids locally (I.e., at the hotel/resort) that’s convenient and fun

A well rated all-inclusive family friendly resort should have you covered. Just check their most recent reviews. We did this in Riviera Maya pre-covid. With kids those ages I wouldn't try to leave the grounds. Some places have child care you can pay for -someone to stay in your room with the Littles. I wasn't comfortable with a stranger though, so we chose one with a kids play room /club activities for some parent break time!

How safe is Houston downtown for a female staying alone with a young kid for a few months? Being very close to the office and daycare, and availability of public transport (doesn't drive) are reason for preffering downtown. However, have been reading about the recent crime surge there. If someone is generally back home by 8 PM or earlier, and will probably take Uber locally, is it still risky. Also welcome any good apartment suggestions. Thanks
