Following! Going to be there around that time as well
I like to stay in the Marylebone area. Pricey but central and has the beautiful old London charm, plus amazing cafes, restaurants, shops. As for food - I always love Dishoom, Nopi (or other Ottolenghi restaurant), Bone Daddies, Opso.
I suggest staying north of Thames (most attractions are on that side). Hotels near Paddington (eg Hilton Millennium) tend to be cheaper but still convenient in terms of location. Getting around - catch the tube but either buy the Oyster card (metro card) or make sure you have Apple Pay (the tube and the buses accept contactless payments). Paying as you go is quite pricey otherwise. Some restaurants to try: Blanchette, Barrafina, Shackfuyu, Franco Manca, Barber & Q. In terms of things to check out - My favourite tourists spots are the Parliament (tickets for tours on their website), V&A museum, and Tower of London. Hope this helps
Thank you A1, and P1. I am excited about this trip now 😀
Try the markets for food. Borough Market and Camden Lock Market are both lovely and great fun to walk round and grab some nibbles. Comptoir Libanaise or Maroush for great Middle Eastern food.
If the weather cooperates, walk down the Thames from Westminster to Tower Bridge. Will take you an hour plus. And then catch the water ferry the other way, since it’s cheap and the captains / narrators are pretty funny.
Add the Churchill War Rooms if you’re a history buff. It’s not a common tourist attraction, but very cool. I would second the V&A - always some interesting special exhibits (which you may have to pay for, though the main museum is free.)
Thanks GT1
