Hi everyone, I am 4.9 years experienced , I joined Fractal 3 months ago as a data engineer, but still haven't got any project. Process is so slow that I have received only 4 to 5 project calls. I switched in hopes that will learn the new tech and tools. But now i am starting to forget even the one i knew. Should i go for change or wait a little more time as fractal is reputed in AI/ML? I have interview lined up with Impetus as for now. Would it be better choice?
How does @Dentsu India interview process works? I had a total of 5 rounds After first 2 they said they are ok with me but they think I am more suitable for 2 other roles,if I want any of them they will redirect. Then I chose the second JD, i had 2 more rounds of interviews and they said they are happy with me and let the HR do their formalities. But after 3 days when I called HR, i was told they are having few more interviews with other candidates and will confirm me! Dentsu Creative
Anyone here in IB restructuring willing to share tips and good resources to use to prep for an upcoming interview? I don’t have IB/finance experience but took a modelling course on wallstreetprep. Also, I am planning on studying the HL case study and read the interview guides on restructuringinterviews.com. Lastly, If you can share what the interview was like for you, that would be appreciated. TIA

McKinsey & Company Has Mckinsey met BA headcount quota for the year/did they freeze hiring? I interviewed and got to last round last year, and applied again with a referral two months ago but haven’t heard anything from recruiting. Last year I heard back within 1 month of referral drop. I would’ve thought with my 1 more year of experience I should be able to get an interview easily.🥲 McKinsey & Company

Were the recruiters able to get you feedback? This has happened to me numerous times, but I got feedback that the interview was great “not the right background, went with internal candidate, etc”. Try to get feedback when you can. Usually if you use a headhunter type recruiter they will get you that feedback
It sucks for sure but the fact that you've made it to final rounds multiple times means that they think you're a good match. Unless you feel like you really screwed something up, the other candidates might have just been a little better or a better match according to the interviewer.
In my experience you’re getting subjected to the NFL coach rule, where HR forces them to interview one woman or minority to keep up the appearance they aren’t discriminating
I had that happen more than 6 times in 2 months. And for me one of the elements was basically trying to prove myself too much, which made it seems like I'm not good enough and I'm trying to convince otherwise. Once I calmed down and just stayed proud of my accomplishments without doing everything I can to "get a chance", it got a lot better (but not perfect still).
OP time to consider an MBA. I promise you’ll never have this problem again once you have an MBA.
OP, I’m happy to help you with your interview skills.
@SC2 Interesting. Ive been told in the past that “interviews are the time to toot your own horn!” But I didn’t think about this angle. Definitely a delicate balance. How did you communicate “proud” and not “prove myself too much”?
OP, This is the exact situation that I’m going through. Also minority female. Submitted my first job app a year ago! The one time I was lucky enough to receive feedback (only because I knew someone who worked for the hiring manager), she said they thought that I seemed uninterested, when really I was trying my best to be professional and mature since I look young. I fear that when I let myself get too excited, it accentuates my age/inexperience, but I’ve been working on speaking more confidently so there’s more of a balance of enthusiasm and professionalism.
@EY2 I’ve gotten that too! “You just didn’t seem enthusiastic” - ok sorry for acting like I’m doing an interview?? 🙄
Guys, don’t discount enthusiasm, smiling, friendliness in an interview. It’s a new day, no one wants an emotionless drone. More than anything now people are going for “fit” and signs that you’re teachable (and of course knowledgeable in some aspect). Let that enthusiasm shine! Get excited! Show your passion! No one cares about your age. Good luck all
Alright, fish fam. Had a final interview this morning and I was super enthusiastic and smiley. Here’s hoping! 🤞
@EY1 The headhunters usually don’t give me any feedback. They bring up legal stuff and say they don’t want to get in trouble *shrug. When I push them, I get the super-general feedback “someone else was more qualified” and I’m like “well obviously, but how??” 🙄
@A2 I am both, why?
@A2 Oh damn. Well this sucks.
I’m sad that you had to ask people to be nice as a disclaimer. I’ve gotten flamed before too. In a world where you can choose to be anything, be kind.
But OP, just ask your interviewers or recruiter for feedback. They should give it to you, and you should be able to tell the real reason by their tone, etc. it might just be that you were “waitlisted” for the position / they are on the fence about you.
Agree with EY 3. Show your passion for your work and the position you're applying for! Be your genuine self. Try to find ways to show direct value you've brought to you teams and ways you'll help theirs. Try to be natural and don't worry about being too formal in the interview. I'm sorry you're going through this!
I loathe dating as a minority (wait did I just say "dating" I meant "job interviewing"...same thing). I've had like 10 consecutive interviews wth white guys. There are like no women or minorities. It's demoralizing
I try not to think about it because I know there's little I can do, but like with dating, I'm guessing there can be plenty of instances where I'm doing everything 100% right but things still won't work out because I don't look the part. *sigh*
OP: There’s definitely more than one guy out there for you ...
@SM1 well I’m married, so I hope not..? But I see what you’re saying. I was trying to say you’re not married to a job forever
