Please don’t tell me I’m bragging, but do tell me if I’m crazy. Can I retire at 30? 2 properties with positive cash flow/free housing. 900k in equity 600k remaining on mortgages. 750k liquid. 150k retirement. Single/no kids - but eventually.

You should find a job in my opinion that perhaps is less stress.

Definitely not. You’ve got 70 years ahead of you

I agree. My grandma and her sisters were all poor and had horrible diets and even they lived well into their 80s. If they had better resources they would still be alive today I’m sure. I also know someone that was wealthier and she died before at like 68. Her wealth really helped her to live a very comfortable life during her terminal cancer.

How old are you, how much do you spend per year, and what would you do in retirement?

like

Also, kids are defacto expensive, and - again not wishing ill - if there are any complications or health issues that come up, you will need some more wiggle room in your budget. These are things people don’t typically plan for but can trip you up financially .

like

Nope

like

I mean maybe in Thailand or India but certainly not in a major US city. It sure as hell won’t be a fat FIRE.

If you want kids eventually then no you cannot retire. Health insurance for a family on individual marketplace is crazy expensive. Better to have corporate coverage for that alone while kids are in picture

I could always retire to a low cost European country? Or Canada?

What is a good introduction book on investing?

I keep getting contract offers on LinkedIn (think self-employed consultant). The rates seem really good ($120-$150/hr). I have around 5 years exp and a CISSP. I’m highly considering leaving big4 to become a contractor/self-employed consultant. From a risk perspective I’m young and have no kids and low debt.
Anyone did it? Any feedback?

Are there any executives out there who have recently negotiated with their CEO for an updated compensation package? I know I'm being underpaid as a CFO who has also handled all of the HR responsibilities for the past 3 years. Currently at $130K with $30K bonus at the end of the year. I don't take the insurance through the company either. Currently no 401K match program available.

Question for fellow attorneys:

I applied to a credit card with Chase a few months ago and within 7 days I was told it was rejected and they would send a letter explaining why.

Chase has recently calling to say it expired (they said it wasn’t rejected but I was told on the recorded line that it was).

Isn’t this against the law (fair credit reporting act)?. I’m not a lawyer so I’d love to hear your thoughts

I have a client, who is in a new relationship, and his gf contributes about $2600 to the household expenses.

Do I include her contribution as income to my client? or where do I input in the dissomaster? Thank you!
