There are no geographical variances for COL. The logic is as follows:
- The starting salary is high enough that it’s good even in NY/SF ($150K for a post-MBA consultant when I started)
- It’s harder to get new consultants to move to places like Atlanta and Dallas than NY or SF. The standard salary creates an incentive to pick the offices in cheaper cities.

You take the pre-set salary for the title that you’d be entering at. Bonus & benefits are usually better at MBB.
Whether it’s worth it depends on the person and what drives their decision making.
I never understood CoL adjustments. It's all supply and demand right? The reason CoL is high in NYC is because there is super high demand to live there, so prices are high. CoL should regulate the market so the population is more or less indifferent between cities.
@PL1 On top of that, how does it work across geographical variances in COL.
