I feel like my mother prefers another family member (not her child, but same age and gender as me) more than she does me. I was very excited for a recent milestone event in my life and so was the other family member, whose event my mom is definitely more interested in. Idk why I even bother, maybe I should just come to terms with the fact that my mom doesn't care as much and move on with my life without needing her validation

Need some weight loss suggestions/motivation. I used to be really fit but over the past few years, I’ve done so many rounds of IUI, had a baby, then two rounds of IVF before I really lost the baby weight which added more weight, then Covid hit and the no daycare no gym situation made it so hard to maintain a healthy routine. I have an embryo transfer coming up in Sept and I’d love to be back to a healthy weight and have more energy before I’m (fingers crossed!!) pregnant again. Any suggestions?

Stupid question, but here goes: what's the definition of a "single mom"? Does it only include women whose child/ren don't have a father in their lives (e.g., mom got pregnant, but never told the guy) - or does it also include women who got divorced, but their ex-husbands still co-parent?

My daughter has been begging for a cat for the last 2 years and we finally decided to get her one. I don't know anything about cats or taking care of pets. What am I getting myself into? And where can I buy a cat? We went to a couple of rescue places to adopt, but we didn't like any of the cats and they had very few options. They said to come back in a few weeks, but she's asking me every single hour.

How do you feel about pets being around your baby(ies)? My partner and I both grew up with tons of animals and are currently pregnant with twins and have 3 dogs and 2 cats. We intend to raise our boys very close with them like how we were. My SIL very much disagrees and refuses to let my nephew remotely close to animals. What are your thoughts?

I’m joining Accenture Federal soon and had some questions about parental leave. First, is there a minimum timeframe you have to work for Accenture before they let you take maternity/parental leave. Secondly, in the recruiting brochure maternity leave is separate from parental leave. Can you take both of you are the primary caretake for a total of 4 months?

Would it be wrong to tell my team that “40 hours (chargeable+non charge) is my physical limit and all I can give right now”? Given that they know I’m pregnant. I worked 70 hours this past week and it’s looking like there are more to come. I want to wrap up what I have (so probably a couple more OT weeks) and start setting more boundaries. Is that reasonable? I don’t want to sound like “I’m pregnant and I need special treatment”, but I simply do not have more in me physically.

With social security potentially running out, why couldn’t it be an option for the govt to put $5k for every baby that is born in a year into an account Invested in a govt share class S&P 500 fund. Historical average is 10%+, which would provide roughly $2.7 million for a baby born today. Eventually, this would eliminate the need for soc sec tax, and would only cost $18 Billion a year instead of several trillion a year being deposited into the trust.

Hi everyone,
I am an RN/MSN working in outpatient quality management. The company’s undergone lots of transitions in the past few years and I’m in a place where I’m just trying to stay above water. I am very overwhelmed and constantly anxious about meeting all of the additional asks coming in. It also seems that we are constantly being asked to validate the work that we do which is pretty frustrating. I do like the people and pay is good but is it time to make a switch?

I left my previous employer citing personal family issues. They were toxic, I honestly wasn’t sad to leave. Now one week later, they text me saying they heard I’m working at a hospital in the area and “tell me it isn’t true.” Im not working there… but weird they would say that? And I don’t even want to answer but I also don’t want them to hate me and ruin my reputation as a therapist in this small town. Im still onboarding at my new job. How do I respond?

PSA: I had a horrible experience applying for a job at Devoted Health. Applied online and then got asked to schedule a phone interview. On the day of the interview, I waited 20 min and nothing happened. I emailed the HR rep, he didn’t acknowledge or apologize and just told me to reschedule so I did. I even sent a separate email to confirm the second phone call. Second day of the interview, same thing, no show. I sent an email letting him know that my time is not being valued. (Cont’d)
