I was offered 65k base and 2% commissions to move into a sales manager role at a fintech startup. I currently make 120k total package as a plant operations manager in arkansas. I’ve been wanting to move into tech and thought sales was the best pivot for me. It is remote right now but they say that it will be hybrid soon. Not even sure how to understand the commissions structure. I’m leaning to just staying where I’m at. I’ve been here for 6 years and know my job well but it’s a toxic workplace.

I took a big jump in roles from SMB at a small tech company to a Medium Enterprise role at a massive more traditional company. I’m also 27 and a Black woman and struggling with feelings of imposter syndrome. Most people have 10-20 years of experience in this field and I’m 4 years out of college. The ME teams are 98% older white men who talk about golf everyday. Even had an RSD ask me how old I was…
