My husband finally stood up and planned a trip for us. We were both very excited about it and I gave the team the notice three months ago. However just a month before the trip, the client changed the deliverable timeline and I was asked politely to move my trip and was told maybe the team could reimburse my change fee. Can somebody pls explain this to me: if somebody has a medical emergency and needs to use short term disability, the firm says they need to pay for all of their other benefits at the full rate, not the employee discounted rate, so like $400 for health insurance instead of $100. Do they ever reimburse this money or is this the terrible setup they have if you need to use your disability benefits? I feel like I'm missing something.

How is everyone dealing with the volume of people leaving? I know in my office we are drowning due to the number of staff and seniors leaving and the volume of work coming in. Obviously there’s always turnover but it’s way more than normal and we don’t seem to be able to hire people. I feel like the audit industry is due for a big change to retain people since I think younger folks are way less willing to trade their life now for a payday later on in life.

I feel like so much of the media discussion about people NOT going back to work is centered on POC. I have white coworkers just as frustrated. Is this just another example of how POC are having the authentic conversation no one else is willing to have?
