Last week I tested out working in the office again for the first time since last March. I thought I would love it again. I ended up hating every second of it- wasting time on commute, paying for parking, no where to eat, office was lonely, water cooler talk wasted my productivity. It was exhausting to be “on” in person the entire time. I couldn’t bring myself to go back this week. I didn’t realize wfh allows me to enjoy my job and gives me the time to balance life and friends outside of my job.

My professional life at the moment is far from ideal. I’ve been on quarantine (long story, but a good one) for the last seven years. Royalties from my books don’t pay the bills. My entrepreneurial pursuits remain hampered. For the interim, I’ve been looking for a remote opportunity where I can leverage my skills in marketing, sales, social media, and elsewhere for a decent sum. I have a social media presence which, in recent years, reached millions. There has to be something exciting I can do.

I’ve been at home all day every day just grinding out spreadsheets and sending emails as almost everyone on this app and I just missed working on stuff with my hands and feeling a little physical exhaustion so I decided to join my brother at his mechanic shop and switch out Excel and Outlook for a jack and a power drill and let me tell you... it feels amazing. It’s funny how he thinks I’m so lucky to WFH and stay inside with AC and I think he’s lucky to have a job that actually feels fulfilling

Wanted to get opinion from community. Should I continue as EY FAAS manager M2 (120k) or take job as an assistant controller with biotech for 170k plus bonus and stock? Assistant Controller job would require me to be in office few days a week (about hour and half commute one way) whereas faas is remote for foreseeable future. I also don't know way to get promoted to FAAS senior manager ( m3-> senior manager?). I also don't know FAAS SM salary.

I am looking for a Social Manager to work on a national auto brand — this is honestly a dream job for anyone into auto/autocare, DIY, racing, and sports. You will run and manage day to day social activity alongside a Social Strategist and Social Coordinator, with the support of an Analyst and full creative team. You will also have an excellent Account team. We can relocate you to NC or you can work central or east coast remote. Send me a DM if you’re interested!!

I am 7 years out in a transactional practice (real estate) and have an opportunity to move in house at a regionally respected company from a midsize firm. I have WFH flexibility at my current firm but bill about 1850-1900 per year. It would be about a 25% paycut. I have also been offered partnership starting in 2022 if I stay - not entirely clear what that long term structure looks like (would have to develop a partially independent book in next 3-5 years). Am I crazy if I leave?

Thinking about getting a dog. Always wanted one and now I have plenty of time to care for it. But once life resumes I’m not sure. I can’t afford a daily dog walker. Do they really need a midday walk? Thought I could do a walk in the morning, right after work and before bed. I would work from home 2 days a week so could do midday walks then.

Hi, would love some advice! I’ve been at my company ~1 yr and feeling like I need a change due to various reasons. Not sure if I can apply elsewhere w/ a little less than 1 yr under my belt, and I don’t have many connections in my area. Right now, I play a BSA role on my team, and I’m hoping to pursue product/UX design. I’m also doing a UX bootcamp in the spring & working on a udemy course outside of work for UX/UI. What’s a good stepping stone role (remote preferred)?
