I wouldn't call Seattle affordable, but Zillow apparently thinks there are some four bedroom homes for sale for less than a million. I would validate the actual sale prices, though. It's definitely a place you can be outside year round.

Inland empire near LA. Look up the cities like Corona, Riverside, Rancho Cucomonga, Temecula etc. All these cities are probably an hour away from big airports but you can get a 2500 sqft house in $1M range
🤣
Thank you PwC1. So helpful.
Sacramento in California.
It is hot in the summer for sure. There are lakes within driving distance to cool off like Lake Tahoe, Donner, Folsom, Serene, etc. It's also less than 2 hours to Napa, San Francisco, and Reno. Plenty of opportunities to cool off in the summer. ☺️
What you want is Las Vegas (or Phoenix). West coast is a nonstarter.

Not West Coast, but have you considered Dallas or Denver? Tech opportunities have been growing there.
Seattle might be your only decent option if not.
I think you should research Denver’s climate a bit more. We get like 300 days a year of sunshine and while we do get winter storms the snow doesn’t stick around more than a few days most of the time. It’s a far milder winter than what I had growing up near Lake Erie in Ohio.

I would look somewhere with accessibility to the Irvine airport.
There are places like Corona that are 30 minutes away where you could get a house in your price range.
Tijuana
Salt Lake City, Denver, Boise, Las Vegas, or maybe Portland. Many tech companies are getting out of Cali, so I’d plan for the future. Cost of living is no joke out west.

What about the 5 new tech companies that pop up for every tech company that moves out of CA?
Redmond, Oregon unless you can swing Bend.
How close to the coast are we talking?
Preferably a 2 hour plane ride to tech clients in the Bay Area.
Do you need to live right on the Pacific coast? Las Vegas and Phoenix have affordable housing, major airports and are very short flights to many places.

Phoenix
Scottsdale Arizona
Fresno, CA. A lot of options under 1M there
4 bedroom home for less than 1M and close to a major airport on the coast?
I think you have to give up something here, can’t exactly have it all
Any surrounding area(25miles) to PDX could accommodate.

Anyone would have similar ideas for the east coast?
Atlanta
Got to Raleigh,NC the next tech hub. But I don’t think geographical locations should be a limit to get into tech when we will all be meeting in the meta verse
I posted the same thing - kinda - didn’t see your comment when I did it 😁
Why not Raleigh, NC -Not the west coast but there is some Tech companies relocating to that area and the weather is nice year around. Homes are still affordable
Boise, Idaho- super fast growing tech hub due to the pandemic
