Isn’t part of the problem that black representation tapers out as you climb the ladder? Doesn’t focusing on internships amplify the problem?
My thinking is that the junior ranks swell, but mobility higher up isn’t improved, so you end up with even more demo-specific churn.
What have I missed here?
This is the crux of the issue, you've got it right. There's not much help to bring black people up--just into meeting rooms where we can look nice.
In my personal experience internships like these just leech on black pop culture relevancy to benefit aged white creatives while the young black talent gets tossed aside.
I don’t see what the problem is. This seems like a great idea. There are very few black creatives in portfolio school across the country. Seems like this will help with that problem.
