In case you never got to see the New York Times article about air quality in classrooms, I’m posting it here for you. It makes some very important points about creating the safest possible environment for students and teachers. 1. Open windows if it all possible 2. Place air purifier centrally 3. Don’t place fans in a way where the air is pointed at people Have a great year and keep yourself and your students safe! https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2021/02/26/science/reopen-schools-safety-ventilation.html
How much encouragement do you get from administrators to try and explore in the classroom?
I'm thinking I should add some specific covid safety procedures to my syllabus. Has anyone done this and is willing to share?
WHY are we so nasty and vindictive to each other? Got an entire 30 day block from Blacks In Tech for pointing out that a conversation about the COVID-19 vax did not begin from a respectful place. IMO starting a respectful convo on that topic means inviting people to share their “reasons”. This person started the discussion from the angle that Black people have “misconceptions” - which plays into the narrative that we are too dumb to evaluate the info and land on a decision which is right for us.
I’m looking at the possibility of using Book Taco in my classroom. Has anyone used it? If so, what are your thoughts on it?
Is Grant Thornton still making people travel for advisory? Specifically risk advisory for NYM area. Was wondering if covid changed things so there would be no more traveling
Who has a Pilates reformer at home and what do you use for workouts? I’ve been using YouTube but I’m curious about other options. Trying to tackle that Covid-10 and I like Pilates enough to consistently do it.
Classroom and digital decluttering. How does a teacher do it? Do you think it’s important?
Are you required to come into your building? I'm teaching vitrtually, but 2 days a week I'm required to come into my classroom.
Hi all, Has anyone used a report from at home covid tests to enter the US? Does that work?
I’m an aide in a structured self contained classroom and most likely positive but have no sick days left. Are admins showing grace and not docking your aides if they exceed sick days. Are autism students cannot tolerate masks and I am toileting and doing hygiene so I am more exposed than say a special education or RTI aide
Hi there! I attended a virtual robotics workshop last week. I learned a lot and especially enjoyed connecting with others who were using robots in their classroom. I hope you join the discussion and we can find a way to support each other.
For those struggling with lethargy/depression/anxiety from the coronavirus situation, are you talking to your team about how it's affecting your work?
Homework... it’s my worst nightmare in the classroom. I have to give it but have flexibility in creating my own policy. Please share what you give, how you collect, and/or grade!! THANKS!
Solo trip to europe for two weeks this august, 27/F, deciding between two options: city and beachside or maybe both! I generally like walkable cities, good food, bespoke wine bars, stay a while in cafe scenes. Aside from London, Paris, Lisbon, (been to these cities already) any recommendations?? Keeping in mind that europe is still easing out of covid restrictions, would like to head somewhere that’s going to be more open. TIA :).
Student loan question - just got this email. What is the benefit to me for prematurely ending COVID forbearance? Is there any?
For those of you who attended a FT MBA program, what did you do when you were not in the classroom? Besides traveling, partying, studying/homework, interviewing, etc. Were you often attending events to network, getting lunch with faculty, enjoying a hobby, something else? Thanks! *Repost*
Hi all! I am aiming to become an HR Advisor by the end of the year. I have a 1st class degree in Business with Human Resource Management which is CIPD Level 5 accreditated. Does anyone know of any qualifications or courses I'd need to help me become an HR Advisor? Also, how do you HR professionals keep up to date with changing employment laws?
We all know Investment Bankers put in long hours but the money they make is absurdly good. I mean I’m sure some consultants put in similar work weeks for 100k while IB making 225k with 100% bonus...
How do you manage to get covid test done in the 24 hours window? PCR takes time and none of the labs I reached out to does rapid testing.
I need help on deciding what position to take. I current have 2 offers on the table. One is a business systems analyst position dealing with Agile and project management. The other is a Technical Business Analyst dealing with PowerApps, Power Automate, SharePoint and Agile. Which position could open doors to more options in the future?
Have a month to kill before my next project starts. Any suggestions on how to get connected with proposal work? Don't worry I'm fitting PTO in there but don't wanna be chillin the entire time
A question for recruiters. When you call someone asking them if they are interested in an opportunity and then ask them for a technical interview the next day and they ask for an extension does it impact their application? Recently it has happened to me twice that recruiter calls, he has my details and asks if I’m interested and then ask for same day or next day interview. And when I apologize since I actually have job to take care as well they just ghost me. Is this something that’s normal?
Besides the money, business class tickets, and mind boggling exit opps, what are the best perks that MBB firms offer that Big Four shops do not?
Looking for a UX designer for a Remote contract position. They will be the sole UX Designer on team- Strong with design & work flows. DM if interested Need to be able to work in the USA
Do you guys at BCG think it would be a smart decision to make a lateral move to PL from Big 4? Have great network and support at current company. The MBB brand, 20k increase in TC, and potential better exit opportunities would be reasons to move. Worried about the challenges of starting from scratch at BCG, proving myself as IC in first few projects, and probably a worse WLB. Would love any insights TIA!
I’ve seen a dozen CDs try to engineer a turnaround at an agency, all of them failed and got fired. Has anyone been through a successful turnaround with a new CD? Were there any observable changes?
Why is everyone so against talking to Uber drivers? I enjoy talking to them, nice to get away from corporate culture as well.
Hello Fish, Give some feedback on LogicMonitor (SaaS product company), how is the work culture and employee benefits?
Ladies, would this be a huge turn off? “Lives with parents, can’t date him” type thing? I’m an only child and my parents bought a new house in 1996 with an unfinished basement. Since I’m paying their house off anyways, I finished the basement and made it incredible. Designed the whole thing myself and have everything I want. It has its own entrance, and the backyard is beautiful. I have an amazing, large double shower, and a beautiful kitchen and nice closet with laundry.
A recruiter asks the following, what's the best answer? "Where are you in the recruiting cycle? How long were you looking? Any current offers? Current salary? Expected salary with this position?"
Where should I take a Skype interview midday?
I am student teaching in a special education classroom this spring. Teachers– what was your experience? How did you survive financially & emotionally? I came straight from a para position, so it’s been an adjustment being in the teacher role. For some reason it’s easier (so far).
