Do people really ever get jobs through cold interviews from job postings? I’ve been trying it for years, done alot of third-round interviews and such, all generally positive experiences, but every job I’ve ever landed has involved a personal recommendation, warm intro, or someone I’ve worked with at a previous role or as a competitor, etc. A fair number of the jobs I’ve notice go “unfilled” with postings remaining up for months or years after. Most places draw out the process 2+ months.

Switching jobs for the first time (late 20s). I have a 401k with PwC; new co doesn’t offer matching. Also have savings. Thinking I need to (1) decide if PwC or new co 401k has better funds before transferring the PwC balance (2) open Roth IRA and contribute max before 12.31, repeat next year and (3) put savings (less emergency fund) in an investment account. Today I learned that younger women are now avoiding using capitalized letters because they think it seems aggressive. Did y’all know this?! Are capital letters the new periods at the ends of sentences?

I’m having issues with my landlord and safety issues within our unit. We have electrical wiring issues, half our outlets aren’t working and if use certain outlets at the same time the fuse blows out. There are now scorch on some outlets. I’ve raised the issue to our landlord several times, she’s threatened to raise rent if the issue is costly for her to repair and now said she’s going to have to shut off our electricity for a day or two to look into this (cont)

I need a supportive group hence coming here and not the company bowl. In my 10 years working , I have never found a place more people friendly , employee focused than EY. But today a peer told a staff as an immigrant She will have to more careful than someone who belong here on her actions cause actions may have negative consequences like she not able to be with family whereas he doesn’t. He also suggested that she needs to be careful as when layoffs happen that immigrant will be let go first.

Hi Ladies! My face has a lot of scars from acne and is very dull and uneven. My skin breaks out very easily. I have tried cutting our sugar and dairy but that has not helped much. I’ve seen a dermatologist who prescribed retinol and a topical cream which I have been using for the past 3 months. Neither of them have helped. Anyone has any recommendation on what to do? When I have gotten negative or even “constructive” feedback in the past, at first I can accept it gracefully and analyze and decide how to use it to improve, then within 24 hours I’m stuck and beat myself up and can’t get out of this negative self-talk spiral.
