At Deloitte you have to be compensated the difference between your home and office in mileage. So if your office is 5 miles away, you need to be compensated for the 50 miles drive @ $0.55/mile
Generally speaking, it's a ~90 minute rule (on an average day). But the mileage compensation still applies.
$0.56/mile. That's IRS rule.
Deloitte 1 + Accenture 2 combined is how it usually is for most projects. You can also really push for a hotel if you can make a good business case (e.g. Super early morning meetings and late meetings, making the daily commute detrimental to productivity)
3 hr a day driving sounds unreasonable even for consulting
Yeah 90 min is official cutoff
It's by time I think.
Well my concern is that it is 1.5 hr commute each way, not the actual mileage. Deloitte has 40 mile cutoff after which u are considered traveler. Any similar policy at Accenture? I basically would be commuting to a diff city
Accenture doesn't really care about your commute in practice. The best you can do is negotiate for a few more work from home days. That's my experience.
1 hr each way is still less that 1.5 in traffic and driving esp after 12 hr days haha. Ok I think I can make a case here. Thanks guys
Accn 4 what was your longest commute miles/time? I am coming onto 5 years in consulting and I have never worked with anyone who did this type of commute with a regular project schedule
I know someone that commuted 1 hour each way by train. She was told the rest of the team did it, so deal with it. She got burnt out pretty quickly
At Deloitte, the cut off is 50 miles from your office (where you live doesn't matter). Just had to deal with this on my last project. I was 37 miles away...but driving out of NYC, which makes things a bit different. I drove about an hour each way with traffic making it a bit longer. My senior manager said he would make a case to the partner if I strongly was against the commute. The project want only a month so I didn't push it.
