PMP
Rising Star
If the firm is paying for it - PMP hands down. The trainings are a week and are expensive. My little sister just got her CSM in two days for 300
Rising Star
Depends the program, the internal one to Deloitte I took it the following weekend and passed but had a good instructor and actually took notes
Think about what industry/job you want to go into and then research what others in the industry tend to have.
What certificate do you think your interviewers would have or are more familiar with will have more value. People like to believe what they have is superior/harder to achieve. So if your interviewer has a PMP they’ll believe it’s better than a CSM and put more value to you as a candidate and vice versa.
In the end all these cert don’t teach you anything, they’re just to help you get a job.
Both are only valuable if you want to be a PM/scum master and working in the public sector seems to value them more so. I’d say the order of importance is Management Exp>PMP>CSM
This is spot on
PMP is useless.
CSM isn’t comparable to PMP, A-CSM or CSM professional is the equivalent
CSM is kind of a joke. I can't speak for the PMP. I'd like to think the POPM and MBA were good combined substitutes for the agile pmp
Probably Scrum Master. The work sucks, but the pay is good for what it is.
What do job descriptions ask for?
I took pmp and I will say doing the exam forces one to understand how a project should be run. You get exposure to financials, planning, etc. However, as a professional body and ongoing endeavor pmp is practically useless. I would never hire someone as a pm if they said pmp was the experience which means they are qualified. Do pmp if you have no pm leadership experience and want to understand the theory and want something to prove you are interested. But don’t expect it to land you a new job alone.
