How do you measure bench strength?
Hello fishes, I joined Nagarro on 24th of August. But still no project is assigned yet. Basically I am on bench. Now I am about to get an offer from ServiceNow. I really wanna join ServiceNow as it's a big product based organisation and the competition is really high compared to Nagarro. ServiceNow is giving me a joining date of 1st October. As I am still on bench, will I get released by Nagarro soon ? Because no project is allocated to me.

Make $120k Accenture now doing tech implementations, just got offer 200k TC EY business consulting. I love my job, have a great WLB (working 20 hours per week, no travel, clear path to M in about 1.5 years) - am I an idiot for even contemplating staying? What I would be doing is more PPT/functional vs Onestream/technical which I do now.

No offence but as a fellow analyst, I don’t think we have a choice. We just have to suck it up and take it
Well your communication doesn’t appear to be top notch…
Have a chat with your PM and try to understand the reason for the micromanagement. Help them undertsand you don't perform well or flourish in such environments and would rather manage your own work with established cadence to manage up and inform the PM of your progress. The cadence, however, needs be not as frequent and not more than 1 a day or one every other day.
The secret in getting out of micromanaging situations is to establish the required confidence by being empathetic to the manager's needs to do so. Cater to the actual need and clean off any emotions (anxiety, skepticism, ego etc.). Granted it's easier said than done, however, much easier than what most think
That is what I want to do but both my PM and SM handle my performance reports so not sure the best way to handle this

you’re mad you got a post 5pm ping in consulting? you realize this isn’t a 9-5 kind of job right?
Most definitely not a learning opportunity, I can tell you that. Literally a basic client ask that they could handle. It was also a non urgent ask and completely unnecessary for me to stay on and they pinged me seven consecutive times
Consulting life doesn’t stop at 5pm and either does industry (despite what people seem to think on FB). That said, we live in a time of flexibility and if someone sends a message to you during a time convenient to them, that doesn’t mean an instant response is needed from you providing your on top of your work and creating quality deliverables.
I would first bring it up with your people manager on procedures. They can often advocate for you to other SMs, etc.
My best advice is to make the behavior visible to the SM without telling on the manager, etc.
The other is to disconnect after hours. If it’s after your expected log off time, just don’t respond. They will likely take the hint. If that’s a problem, you can escalate on expectations.
Lastly, these situations are delicate. I would spruce up the resume, etc. If the manager becomes unbearable, you can speak to your people manager that you are a flight risk. However, this only works if you have offers in the table, really.
Then have an honest conversation with those around you. The key is to do it from a position of strength. They should empathize and listen to your concerns. If reasonable, they will accommodate. However, in the event they don’t, you don’t want to be left stranded or on a PIP. Politics are delicate and it’s important to have a back up plan.
